Scalpsie Bay, Isle Of Bute

Just back from an amazing trip for 5nights to Scotland with the family. We had Scalpsie Bay on our door step, I spent every day trying for a decent landscape shot of the beach and the distant isle of Arran and its mountains. Hope you like

For me the first is over graduated, and the saturation has gone a bit too far in the sky, especially with the blues.

The second is a real beauty though, well seen and nicely composed. The green pops off the screen.

As Craig said, the first is a little overcooked in the sky, but otherwise lovely. Second is very well done, but just a bit less exciting.

I like the composition and the view of 1 in general but seriously the graduation is a little too heavy in both and the contrast and black point are set well beyond what I would consider pleasing. Just tone it all down and use the most neutral camera profile for editing.

If you are getting black or dark grey clouds you have certainly gone too far.

Cheers for all the feed back on these. I have my ‘rose tinted spectacles’ on sometimes when it comes to editing and need to tone it down a little. Ironically the 2nd image made Flickr explore yesterday!
