Lots of Sparrows with young about just now. I keep spotting this one in the crowd though. No tail feathers but it seems to get about just fine.

Landing tends to be a bit dramatic though Phil. We've got a Great Tit like your Sparrow, we call him the buzz bomb.
Do they grow back ASAP, or will they have to wait for a full moult?
 
Sometimes they get plucked by an adult for nesting material. I'm not sure 'when' but they should grow back.

The feathers can also stay in 'the pin' and come out later but I guess this bird is too old for that.
