The TP 52 - 2025 SimonB - 52 for 2025 - Week 3 - Graffiti

Here we go again!

After a busy day of taking down the Christmas decorations and tidying up the house, we didn't feel like making tea, so pizza and chips it is!

I couldn't play around with angles and settings as I think I was testing the wife's patience  :$

Pizza and Chips !!!
Hmm, would want baked beans as well as the chips :)

Oddly we're having Pizza tonight too (similar reasoning - cba cooking after a busy Saturday.

Good call using the pizza cutter to add some reflections into the shot.

Yum! Having the cutter makes all the difference (wish I could remember such things when taking shots).

Having the cutter and where its placed in the frame works really well, nice shot.

Pizza and chips, living the dream ! Great capture of the colour & texture though

Thanks for the feedback everyone, pizza, chips and beans now there's a new one to try!

Good shot Simon, I like how you've captured some reflection in the pizza cutter and the one little piece of topping on it that gives some sense of movement...

Mmmmmm Pizzaaaaaaa.... Nice one :)

The cutter makes the shot for me. Pizza looks good too!

Yes, the pizza cutter adds to the image very well.

Pizza and chips! What else can a man ask!!! :$
The added cutter adds interest to the image. Nice one to start off the year.

Nice tea and a good start to the 52 :)

Thanks everyone, glad the idea of the cutter worked well, I shall tell the wife who was patiently holding it while I was snapping away.

I had an idea in my head of what I wanted for the theme but it was challenging to achieve. The aim was to have my face silhouetted against the sky while breathing out and capturing the vapor. I had a bright light beside me to help create the silhouette and hopefully illuminate my breath. However, I either struggled with being out of focus or not even being able to see my breath at all!

Unfortunately, I gave up and put my best attempt into Photoshop and "shopped" the shot I was after, not proud of myself but it is pretty close to the shot I was after.

I quite understand when a visualised shot proves not to work out so well, but you rose above it and the finished product is great. It just says cold.

Like the light no matter how it was achieved :)

Nothing wrong with a bit of photoshop to help you achieve the shot you wanted

That's what Photoshop is for. End result looks fine.

As Allan & Nick have said, nowt wrong with photoshop to get the result you want.
I really like what you've produced.

That’s good. Works for me Simon.

Good result, even though I’m a photoshop-luddite

I think that works. You're being too hard on yourself.

All of your comments are very kind, I was frustrated with it at the time but now realise that photoshopping isn't as taboo here as I thought it might have been! Thanks everyone :)

Definitely nothing wrong with a bit of Photoshop to achieve the vision. I like the final output.

Unfortunately, we are never too far away from graffiti. I don't mind seeing graffiti when it has some artistic talent to it, but it is quite annoying when you just see "tags" popping up here and there. The council is never really quite on the ball to remove them, although they probably have better things to be doing.

I had two pictures in mind: one with a "tag" that I often walk past and some that I saw on the pavements, likely from contractors planning maintenance works.

I quite like this one as I think the curve of the road leads the eye nicely.

I did consider this one too as it is something a bit different but I didn't like the "feel" of the picture, it felt a bit snappy.

3 Graffiti (2)

Yep, I'm with Tim, the second one is less graffiti and more about information. Having said that, your chosen image suits the theme well. I like how the graffiti paint choice almost matches the bin at the end of the fence. Good leading lines.

The first is very well executed - lovely composition.

Yep - nice shot of horrid stuff!

Good shots. Simon. I think you chose the right one, although I like your thinking regarding the second shot as graffiti.
