Slow worms

Mrs T lifted a breeze block in the garden this morning and found these two. The first we have seen for about five years.

I found one while I was mowing the lawn recently. I just saw something move in the grass, looked and couldn't see anything then found it out on the step. It was a big one and very lively as I tried (and failed) to pick it up to put it somewhere more suitable. It then wriggled its way under the turf at the edge of the step so I left that bit unmowed. I see dead ones from time to time but I can't remember the last time I saw a live one. Maybe it'll thank me by keeping the slug population down a bit
