This coming weekend - anyone else going?

I'll be there in a 'working' capacity, but that's got nothing to do with photography! However, I'll still have a load of glass toys with me for playing with throughout the day. If you see someone with a large white projection near the control cabin, come and say hello!!:)

I'll be there although I'll be on the Royal Navy recruiting stand. Going to take my camera bag with me though and try and get a few shots off. If you see someone and a navy uniform taking pics, it'll be me!!

I was through Dartmouth in the 80's, so if you see me, remember your P's & Q's.....;)

As I understand things, the Vulcan (XH558) should be there on Sunday Andy. Can't believe this will be your Sigmas first run out if you got it in January. If it were me, I'd have been playing with it every chance I got.:D

I shall be there on sunday for the vulcan handholding a 300 2.8IS again, may add the 1.4x this time as well.

Will be there myself, dragging along the s1730 and showing the 'rents how to use the new S4500.

Haven't seen the Vulcan fly, and missed out on it with the Waddo airshow so fingers x'd my reign of bad luck ends on Sunday.

i shall be there on Sunday, i'll take the camera but i'm not sure if i'll get any good shots. My longest focal length is 210mm on a crop sensor :crying: do we think i'll get away with it?

210 on a cropped sensor will just about be long enough for some shots. In the past I've been using a 70-300 on full frame and found it only just long enough for some shots, and ok for others. Thing is, at a lens longest focal length is when it's often at it's softest, hence my own decision to upgrade.

Yeah I understand where you're coming from, I think I'll have to try and get towards the front of the barrier. Unfortunately I'm not in the position where I can go and buy another lens especially just for one days use. If I had thought about it in advance I should have rented one for afew days!

Might pop down myself, but I'm in the same position Andy. 200mm on a crop probably won't be enough for a lot, but can still enjoy the day!

It's not all about the photography! Go down and enjoy the noise and the fun anyway, and if you get a few good snaps out of it, even better! :)

Oh there was plenty of noise today :-D :-D.

Hope the weather is as good tomorrow as its been today ...

Finally got round to checking back into this thread. I've been a bit busy since getting home from Southport at 3am on Monday morning.....

Going through loads of aircraft pics, I became a bit bored as they all started to look the same. Started deleting hundreds of perfectly good shots, so I suppose I must prefer live birds to metal ones.

Anyway, here's a couple of my personal favourites although the lighting conditions were far from perfect:

Don't quite know why, but I like this the best:

The rest just look like this......

and then it would be rude not to:

some nice images there John. Some good detail, although most of them are framed too tight for my tastes. I'd like to see a little more sky, would improve the composition a little imo. Well captured.
