This orb weaver has built an audacious and ambitious web that spans a garden bench and is tethered on a hanging basket halfway up the house wall. Despite being constantly damaged and in need of re-building, it seems to have paid off.

Super shots, Nige...love the fact that you can see the stinger still protruding from the wasp's body, must have been a real tussle.

Thanks Andy. I didn't see the actual capture take place, jut the already cocooned wasp in the web. When I came back with the camera the spider had moved its meal to the hanging basket.
 
No probs, Nige...I've just noticed a blob of liquid on one of the spiders legs, I wonder if it copped for a sting :eek: in the tussle.
