one of my favourites - they are just appearing - but these are shots from last year
This species is moving farer north each year - a few years ago they were in Southern Spain, (from N Africa... it's an Africa species), and for the last few years they have been recorded in SW France and other small patches in South of France areas, (??), there is/used to be a tracking site where you recorded sightings .....they seem now well establish in SW France, (la Lande and the Gironde), but I am not sure how far north they have got - I would think that quite soon, (maybe 20 years) they will be seen in the UK and it will be interesting when the first sighting occurs
They are this colour, but they can be darker - and you can see where they get their name from - there are other "Dropwing" species - but none as far north as this one
