I think hornets are more orangey than yellow although I could be wrong. don't like to get close enough to find out
Hornets are cool, they are quite laid back really, this one was feeding on heather on Brownsea island when I put my hand down next to it - it simply crawled on to see what it was, so are wasps so long as they don't feel threatened they won't bother you, but if they feel threatened - they defend themselves !

Absolutely. As soon as you start waving your arms about you are treated like a predator, and as long as you aren't near the nest, in the flight path,
you won't get attacked.
( both wasps and Hornets)
Hornets are cool they sound like a mini squadron of planes, as they fly in and out of the nest site.

And as already mentions that's 100% wasp.

sorry Billy, not meaning to hijack your post - wasps - this one is how they tell you to back off - if they wave one leg - back off - if they wave the two front legs definitely back off cos next move is the attack, this is 50% frame from a 150mm macro shot just outside the nest, i took the hint just after i took the shot :)
