Is the old 70-200 F4 still decent? I have sold my 70-200 2.8 as just need something smaller and lighter and rarely used it at 2.8 anyway. On a budget so the F4 falls in to price range, but so does an import 70-180 Tamron G2. Any other light zoom option to consider over those?

So another video question on the A9 and getting head around exposure. I have set it to manual mode. 1/50 shutter to double frame 25 frame rate. In auto iso I can adjust exposure. In manual iso I can’t adjust exposure. So just wondering what’s the best way to get exposure correct. Auto iso...

Tried 2 copies of the 35mm Samyang 2.8 and both were pretty whiney when focussing. Is this a Samyang thing or just apparent in this lens. I have found some posts online of people complaining about the noise but nothing about their other lenses such as the 1.8 version.

Got a Samyang 35mm 2.8 coming today as just wanted something tiny and light to tide me by. I know some of them are not always perfect. What is the best way to check for focus and de-centering issues etc?

That 24-50 would be nice as long as it’s not too large and expensive (which I’m sure it will be )

Bare bones at the moment. A9 + 70-200 2.8 mk1 plus 3 batteries! I was going to shell out on some primes for the A9 and try some more video but we have had some other financial stuff that has taken priority. I might just hold for a bit, by a cheap as chips prime and see how things settle...

Yeah I agree after reading in to both cameras. 2k budget is also limiting the Sony choice. £1500-1600 for a used body only leaves £400 for a lens or 2. S5ii currently just a smidge over 2k with 20-60, 50 1.8 and 85 1.8.

Only got a day to decide on the S5ii and offer online with the 20-60/50/85. Seems ridiculous value. I was looking at the A7iv but the value of the S5 seems so good. I want to start shooting more video and the A9 just isn’t the camera for that.

Think a mix. The misses will be editing some videos from her iPhone and me from my Sony A9. As mentioned it’s just the basics needed. Putting a few vids together and fading between, adding music and text. Not a huge lot more than that.

Thanks. Will look at both. Know which one has more easy to use interface for basic editing? My wife also want to use the same software and not looking to anything too complicated. Hopefully they are both easy enough to understand the basics

Any decent free editors worth downloading? I have never used anything but iMovie so looking for something for windows. Just for basic editing really. Adding some clips together, add fade etc. add music, add text, maybe tweak effects. Davinci Resolve seems popular, just wondering how complex...

Yeah I think user error played a big part. Although eye af was on I have just found the setting that displays it on the display was off. So with the camera in AFC will it always attempt to focus on what’s in the middle of the frame?
