Seemed to alternate between two fields for hunting, or at least hunting in one and taking food back to the nest in the other (?)

Impressed how the camera performed considering these were taken while the bird was flying behind a tree or two.

The overall pale underside made me think more Peregrine Falcon than Kestrel.

AFAIK the Kestrel has more buff colour underside, though the face markings on yours are also paler than on an adults Peregrine

It is a kestrel. The light can play tricks but they do have a paler imitation of the peregrine's face marking. Also peregrines are more barred than spotted underneath. And that tail.............

I would say kestrel. In the last pic if you look just above the head you can see the distinctive brown on the wing
