AlanDorset 2024 Week45 Snappers Choice

Nice idea for the theme and great perspective on the sign/house.

Definitely interesting structures, well done getting it almost perfectly symmetrical as its very difficult from what I have found in the past.

Classic pylon uppy shot :)

Agreed, it's hard to get the shot central and symmetrical. Well done - works nicely in mono.

Nice one - Didn't know you could get that close!

Well, that's neatly done. I was thinking along the same lines....

Crop and rotate in Lightroom …. Thanks all, unusually it was the shot i planned to take that made it to the finished product.

Straight 2

The Hudson Eight should have had a Straight 8 engine, but the owner says the engine is too expensive to rebuild so the previous owner put a diesel lump under the "hood" instead.

Straight 3

Today's pictures taken at the Goodwood Breakfast Club. This sign is at the entry to the Start/Finish Straight so maybe the best fit to theme?

Triumph, with the body work seams on the outside, never the less I loved them as a kid, oh and the Stag what a car.
you chose the best.

Classic Triumphs. The Stag would not qualify of course with a V8 but still desirable.

Being a car numpty I wouldn't have a clue but will take your word for it! Nice shot though... interesting pov.

Empty - good use of DOF
Structure - the ideal subject for the theme
Straight - forget the engine those pipes tick the box on their own!

Lovely colour in your shot... even though I have no idea what it is either :)

Structure - great angle, and I think the weather works very well for the minimalist look
Straight & Bent are both great takes for the themes, although I'll add to still not having a clue what the tubes are for!

Had no idea what they were. Still none the wiser, but a nice take, very sharp at the front.

Not sure if this helps, but https://www.iracroft.co.uk/ https://www.iracroft.co.uk/capabilities/forming/tube-bending/ we're bending steel tubes to fit to JCB and Caterpillar machines, mainly for the hydraulic circuity which powers the digging arms & shovels, steering, etc, The ones in the shot are for a Loadall machine, I've properly messed around with the colours as they have a silver coloured passivate finish, but I liked the result and took away the distracting background. Too much information ?

A traditional view, thankfully dried out enough to scramble down to the river bank for this perspective.

I like your chosen shot, but feel #2 has more impact.

^ I agree with the above.

It might just be that I do love a good B&W image, but I think it's because the angle gives it a little more drama.
Thanks. The non-photographers that see my weekly posts generally don’t like the B&W treatment, but I’d agree that there is an impact from the right subject / composition that works well. Hence the occasional mono piece creeps in.

Agree with Paul and Kell, I usually prefer colour but the B&W is from a more interesting angle and has more impact, think the sky looks better in the B&W as well

Nice chosen shot but I prefer the mono version, its works well and has a more interesting perspective to me.

Golf weekend at Okehampton in Devon. The yellow post means that the water is a hazard. It certainly is..........

Photo from i-phone but sometimes you just have to seize the moment.

I wonder how many balls are in the lake and how many are yours! Good picture and it looks like a lovely day for golfing.

That's a rather nice scene and, for some reason, the post makes the shot. Can't quite work out why??
