Best editing software / platform?

Evening all.

I am looking in to getting a drone but before I do, I want to get myself more au fait with video editing software and the techniques, etc...

Please feel free to chuck some suggestions and recommendations my way and I can have a look into them and do my research.

Da Vinci resolve.

You get most of it free but if you fancy some special extra features there is always studio version

VSDC or Da Vinci, each has things that are easier than the other

Another vote for Davinci Resolve here. It can feel massively daunting to begin with however you can ignore a lot of it and just hop into the edit module, drag some clips in and export. The free version of the software is incredibly powerful and means if you want to do more, the options are there and importantly it's such widely used software it's extremely well supported by individuals. If you want to do something in Resolve you're likely to easily find video guides and help articles to do what you're wanting.

I've been having a play with Filmora.
Fairly easy to use

I use Adobe Premiere Pro, expensive but very powerful.
