Best shows on Prime/Netflix?

I started watching The Gentlemen, typical Guy Ritchie style series about a wealthy heir who discovers a weed farm operating out of the estate's basement

Ripley, was really good and beautifully shot in B&W
Just finished re watching Dexter.

Now waiting for The Acolyte :)

Just finished Red Eye, very good.
We’re still wading through it. I’ll finish it because I want to see how it pans out but I thought it was preposterous at times.

Enjoyed Three Body Problem although I thought it got a wee bit weak after the first few episodes. Also really enjoyed Fallout, its definitely weird but wonderful.

Currently layed up due to surgery, so have been watching "Fool Me Once" on Netflix. Currently on episode 4, and it's quite intriguing.

I need some ideas and thought this a good place ask.
We have binge watched these old, show series.
Just background when we've only one eye on the tv.
Downton abbey.
Lovejoy.
The Royal.
Heartbeat.

Any ideas for similar series we might watch/rewatch?

We enjoyed Vera, Morse, Kavannah QC, Endeavour, ;)

Thanks Jak, we didn't see Morse first time round so we'll give it a try.
Seem to remember Kavannah vaguely. Not heard of the others, will look them up.

Sorry, spelling mistake, Kavanagh ;)

I have been watching "Queen of the South" on Netflix, quite different and interesting.

I enjoyed that as well, although I did find her lack of sufficient close protection often annoying and perhaps unrealistic. I would be like "come on, really?!!!" lol

Started watching Griselda.

I liked House of Cards, although it just wasn't the same with Spacey in the last season.

Been watching Shogun on Disney Plus. I haven’t read the book and didn’t see the Richard Chambelain tv series so don’t know how closely it follows either. It’s excellent, though very bloodthirsty in places. The lead British character obviously based his acting style on Richard Burton… very similar voice and speech patterns.

Literally just come on here to post the same series, if you enjoyed Vikings and Valhalla then this is probably your sort of thing.

The Gentlemen is quite good so far. The series, not the film.

Also enjoying Traitors.

We enjoyed both those too, although the original Vikings series was the best, especially when Ragnar was still in it.

I'm very much enjoying Better Call Saul. I bought it on DVD as don't have Netflix now.

Excellent series! I would rate some later seasons higher then Breaking Bad even!

I've been thinking of rewatching Breaking Bad. Before BB I had thought that the Sopranos was the best drama from the US and although I do think it was good BB and BCS easily surpass it for me.

I'd like more films. I really liked El Camino.

There was one season on BCS [3rd I think] where it slowed up a bit, but from then on it got really good, I love the merging with BB, was fun seeing some old characters reappear and getting more of the back story on BB. I love The Sopranos too, for it's time it possibly was the best Drama series to grace tv, but I'd agree BB & BCS are another level up.

One thing I discovered when rewatching series 4 before watching the new to my 5 and 6 which I've just bought was the special features including videos by Mike. As I'd never noticed these before I'll have to check all my DVD's for any more.

Ah good ol' Mike, possibly my favourite character in the series, I had a soft spot for Nacho too and some of the villains are always fun to watch, they can make the scene.

Fallout - Bring on season 2

I never even spotted this until just recently and being an avid fan of the games I'm really enjoying it. They've done a very good job with capturing the style.

Just watched the film Official Secrets on Netflix. Thoroughly enjoyed it, very well done and based on a true story.

KAOS on Netflix, rather enjoyable
Although I saw a number of adverts for this one it didn't appeal at all however on reading some discussion on it I liked the idea, gave it a go and thought it was a good watch. It feels like a more colourful and less serious American Gods with a modern take on the Greek gods and the various myths and legends. Something to note though is that it's already been cancelled so there's not going to be any more which is a shame.

I'm generally not a true crime fan but I find the series I am a Killer on Netflix quite fascinating and it has a new series which is just out. Each episode is focused on someone who has been convicted of murder and they're given the time to explain their background and how the murder happened then afterwards the program speaks with others who were involved, friends, family, police etc. some of whom are played the audio from the convicted person. It's no surprise that the stories can vary considerably and highlights how convincing and persuasive some people can be, it also shows how in many cases troubled upbringings can start people on a bad path which unfortunately ends up in a murder.

I'd wholeheartedly agree with the Better Call Saul recommendation and I found I ended up enjoying it more than Breaking Bad. It feels smaller scale and less dramatic but it has such a great cast and characters it just works really well plus it plays it carefully with being in the Breaking Bad universe managing to keep its own distinct self but still tying in and expanding some elements from Breaking Bad. I particularly liked the depth of the characters who all feel convincing and all flawed in their own ways, about the only issue I had with the series is that at times I found myself much more interested in the characters and their stories while not being so bothered about Saul. It's a fairly slow start as it finds it feet especially if expecting something more like Breaking Bad but it's worth the time.

The Champion of Auschwitz

Watched it the other day and enjoyed it. Different from the usual WW2 films.

I'm waiting for Squid Game 2, on Boxing Day.

I enjoyed the first series, binged watched it a few times. I didn't think it would be my cup of tea but it was quite enjoyable.

Amazon Prime: Paris Has Fallen

Don't be put off by the cheesy artwork, the first episode was brilliant and I'm really hoping it continues as I work through the remaining episodes. Good production values and acting plus the audio is amazing, especially if you've got a surround system as it makes very good use of it.

NetFlix: Territory

Another really well done series and full of surprises. I powered through it and looking forward to season 2.

Trying to like The Acolyte, but I'm barely into the first episode and the production values and acting seem lacking. It doesn't feel right compared to many of the other Star Wars spin offs.

Good luck with that. ;)

Be careful, because according to the lead actress, if you don't like it, you're racist! :$

For added interest, see if you can see where they spent the £170m+ it all cost.

I gave up about half way into the first episode. I didn't know that about the lead actress, what a ridiculous thing for her to say.

The sets, lighting, special effects were not good at all, goodness knows where the money has gone lol
