Best shows on Prime/Netflix?

Any recommendations for films/series to watch on Prime/Netflix?

Tend not to be a fan off American stuff which rules out most them! Found things like Succession too dull although did like The Flight Attendant.

Stuff I tend to like is often WW2 based or at least 1900-1960 ish - Like Vienna Blood, Babylon Berlin, and about to finish Ashes to Ashes as didnt see that first time around!

SAS: Rogue Heroes on BBC iPlayer is brilliant.

I also quite liked The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare which I think is on Amazon Prime. It has a bit of an Inglorious B. feel to it.

Also on NetFlix that I'd forgotten about but enjoyed:

1917
Darkest Hour
Operation Mincemeat
Operation Finale

Just outside of the era, but I liked '71 as well.

I also liked Fury, mainly for using the only working Tiger Tank left in the world.

Ha, beat you to it! seen all of them bar 71. Mincemeat I thought was poor compared to the 50s original

I like Operation Mincemeat, too. Good film (y)

Bit tricky without American war films ...

Have you tried "The bang bang club"? Not sure which of the two it's on.

Thousand Blows, coming on D+ very soon looks interesting.

I'm slowly working my way through the old netflix versions of marvel stuff. JJ done. On to LC at the moment. Getting ready for the new Daredevil :)

Started on American Primeval on Netflix. It’s a western series set in the days of the the pioneers and Mormons going west to Utah and through Native Indian territory, but it’s a long way from the usual Cowboys and Indians films. Grim, gritty, brutal and with a lot of very graphic violence. Despite all that it’s an excellent series.

Also watching Night Agent series 2. Very slick but highly unbelievable….. how does the agent’s girlfriend manage to do surveillance that the US police, the FBI and the CIA all somehow can’t manage between them? An ok watch if you turn your brain off, bit similar to the Jack Ryan series.

I might just give this a go (y)

Just started watching "Paradise" on D+ Only done episode 1, but very interesting so far.

Playing Nice | ITVX

Jesus, this is a rollercoaster of emotions. Great acting and lots of twists. Only just finished episode 2 but this drama just keeps building.

The first season to be fair was a good watch. The second season the writing has been pretty awful and it’s not great, although it’s still fair bit better than most of the rubbish Netflix has been pumping out in recent times. The general rule of thumb with Netflix for a good while now seems to be drop one half decent show along with 10 foreign shows that nobody will watch.

Just started Severance S2 - not on Prime/Netflix but Apple+, Loved the first season. It's definitely not for everyone but for those like quirky, dark humour and a bit head-F'ery

Been watching Vera loving it can anyone recommend something to follow on , have also watched Shetland , thats the sort of thing we like :)

If you like Vera then you will probably like 'Hinterland', set in welsh Wales, about a detective inspector.

IIRC Ian Rankin's Rebus has been done with 2 different Rebuses. Darker than Vera but just as watchable (IMO!)

I am a big fan of these shows.

Especially all of those include Vincent D'Onofrio aka Kingpin. Looking forward to the new Daredevil as well.

It just goes to show, what can be done with a darker side to things. As opposed to the recent disneyfied stuff.

For anyone that is interested, Unforgotten on ITV is back with a 6th season.
If you've never watched it before then season 1 to 5 will be a good watch too.

The wife and I find it captivating but easy viewing also.

Riviera on Netflix. Kind of trashy but very watchable. Shades of Dallas/Dynasty ridiculous. All set in the South of France so the sun always shines and the scenery is lovely.

For fans of The Handmaid's Tale, the sixth and final season drops on April 8th, presumably on Prime. 3 episodes on the 8th with 1 each week after that until the finale on May 27th.

You sure it's going to be on Prime and not the news...lol :D

"On Call" Amazon... Cop show that's a little different. Liking it so far (y)

Amazon Prime | The Order

A good watch, based on a true story about a white supremacist group and an FBI agent.
