I would definitely go with the Beercan. Faster and better quality.
I'm so close to clicking buy now.........................

Is it worth getting a 50mm 1.7 MD for £30?
Don't you need an adapter to use it with Sony and isn't it manual focus only?
Not sure about the adapter its Minolta lens and its manual focus but for £30 should I snap it up?
Its in the window of a near by camera shop.
Yeah it's Minolta, but MD was the mount before the A fit so you would need an adapter to be able to fit it to a Sony camera. Not sure how available the adapters are and how much they are so couldn't really tell you whether to go for it or not.
Thats not too bad £20 inc post though.
All the ones I watched (including the one I bought) went for around £135 - £140.
Do it !!!
Ouch, didn't see the postage cost. You're then talking £50 for a manual focus lens and I don't know how the quality compares to the AF version. Might be worth holding out for the AF.
Well I now own a Beercan! I think I'll be happier than with the Tamron but if I don't I'll sell it here!

How much should you pay for the AF 50mm f1.7 then?
They tend to go for anything between £50 and £100.

Just picked up an AF f1.7 50mm Minolta in really excellent condition from my local LCE for £49. I'm really happy with it and now need to start using it
What did you do that for ??????
Not really, I'm sure you'll enjoy it

It is a little cracker!!! My skill level is minimal but this little lens is so sharp and forgiving in low light, its great. I really like it a lot.£49 is a good price indeed, is it in decent nick?
there is a rumour that there is to be a Sony badged variant of it to be announced shortly, possibly PMA?
I'm not sure that the Tamron is even available in MAF mount atm in the UK.

Think you bought it at the right time - surely this can't be right :shake:...or am I missing something?
Beercan
Anyone want to buy mine
It went from £100 to £192 in one bid, someone really wants that lens!!!!!!
It's now at £246. Why is this one any different?
Looking for a NP-FM500H battery for my A300 but baulking a little at the prices for a Sony one, are there any good reputable third party batteries out there?
I got mine from here. Work perfectly with my A200 and even display percentage left like the OEM one too.
