Aylesbury Camera Club

Town: Aylesbury

County: Buckinghamshire

Aylesbury Camera Club is a long established club meeting fortnightly from September to May at Southcourt Community Centre, Prebendal Avenue, 7.45 for 8pm start. We are also organising some summer meets. Contact secretary Chrissie via our web site http://www.aylesburycameraclub.co.uk.

I'm the digital competition secretary, I've been a member for a number of years now, its a great club.

I found one last week near me, but they only meet between September and May.

I think I might go along to a meet in September.

Barking Photographic Society

The Barking Photographic Society is a friendly and very active club that meets every Thursday evening in the Eastbury Manor House in Barking (IG11 9SN)

The members work in Prints, Slides and Digitally Projected Images, with both formal and fun competitions, presentations, visits and social events.

We are probably the most active club in the country and have something for everyone.

Thought I'd post this here, it's a large group of people who meet regularly (or so it seems from the upcoming events!). I've not been to any meetings yet, but am going to the 'Shortest Night' event tomorrow.

This is how they describe the group:

"Hi There,

Welcome to the London Photography Meetup Group. We are a assortment of people who all have one thing in common; a passion for photography.

The aim of the group is simple. We aim to regularly meet up, have some fun, swap some stories and of course take photo's. We all enjoy going out to new places to photograph, swap tips with fellow photographers and have a few beers! As well as organising events in and around London there will be opportunities for day-trips to venues outside of London too.

Other activities we run include exhibiting our work. We also run photography tutorials, organise workshops and regularly hold competitions and offer challenges and opportunities for photography at wide variety of locations.

I do hope that you will be able to join us all at the next meet and even if you can't make this one, will be keen to join the London Photography Meetup Group and be invited along to future events. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Best Regards

Tom Steemson
Organiser"

Anything around Buxton Derbyshire.

Dave.

Quite interested in joining a camera club.. 3 near me, previously mentioned are Bury and Bolton.. there is also Prestwich http://www.prestwichcc.com/

Anyone got any feedback on them, quite daunting to go on your own would be scared off by any cliqueyness or being made to feel not worthy :)

Is there any clubs in the North West, Preston/Blackpool area?.

Thanks
Luke
Preston Photographic Society

I have recently been appointed as Treasurer of PPS after just a year of being in the club. As camera clubs go this is a very friendly one with about 60 members ranging from about 30 to 80 in age. We have regular competitions, outings and studio evenings and we try to keep things as fresh as we can. There are 3 of us TP members in the club but we're always looking for new members so feel free to pop along and give us a try.

I went to the last two meetings and I was surprised to the youngest there, by a long way and I'm 34. I don't mean to offend anyone on here, but it would have been nice to chat to people simular to my age with simular interests. Most there shoot in film, so I couldn't really talk about digital either. I was asked what I prefer to shoot and I said mostly motorsport, but anything really. The reply was "What those funny looking cars going round a track?" "Yes".

The first week was quite interesting, as it was a competition and a local pro came in to comment on the members photos. The second week was a club member showing his slide collection. I wouldn't mind if he'd taken the photos, but they was slides he had bought. :bonk:

I was told the annual memebership fee is £42 and you get a newsletter and able to enter the competitions for that. I couldn't see it is worth the money.

I've been on a couple of meetings with members here and I quite enjoyed them. This was first experience of a local photo club and could well have been my last.

:runaway:

Thats interesting, especially the beginners course.

Exposure Leeds is a new take on camera clubs - heavilly focussed on developing approach and image content rather than technical discussions and competitions.

We meet the first wednesday of every month at Old Broadcasting House, Woodhouse Lane, LS2 9EN. No membership requirements; just a small charge on the door.

We also run various events and workshops throughout the year.

For more... please visit our website: www.exposureleeds.org

That would be brilliant, much better than some landscape tog lol. Just kiddin :D.

I'd love to join a club to expand my knowledge and force me into doing more and from the sounds of it, there's plenty around me (Wigan). I'm just far too shy and don't fancy being the young'un at 22 (typical thinking I know).

Even if you are the young'un you will still find they make you welcome after all without the younger members the club will die off in the end. Plus you will fetch some new ideas into the place and maby get there creative juices going and get them thinking again on why they fell in love with this drain on there time and money :D
