Decent strap recomendations?

My only issue with the Peak Design slide strap when using a heavy camera and long lens is that it cuts into my neck and doesn’t work well with a backpack.
I find it sits under the rucksack strap a bit better than the black rapid but doesn’t move with the camera well. I haven’t noticed mine cutting into my neck tbh, even when using it with a 3kg body and lens setup. Like I say I think both straps have pros and cons, I am finding myself using the peak design more often currently but it doesn’t exactly upset me when I use the BR either

Just stuck a new Peak Designs Slide Lite in the classifieds.
No idea if its good or not, never even took it out of the box.

Another happy OpTech user, I have the Dual Harness and the Pro straps (plus extension), so can quickly switch between the full harness, sling style, or regular strap, depending on what lenses I'm using, and how long I'll be carrying the camera / lens .

The only downside to this style of strap is that the camera / lens 'hangs free', so benefits from a resting a hand on it while walking to stop it swinging about - but that's try of pretty much all the sling style straps as well.
@Faldrax

Hi, Looking for a dual camera strap and someone else has also suggested the op tech dual version, I presume they are strong enough to hold the body with a 70-200 f2.8 and another body with a 24-70 ?

Currently use the PD strap with the PD plate and think this would work better compared to the Blackrapid style ones with the PD plate and anchors?

Thank you

Yes, I've used mine with that combo in the past.

I've also used it with just a single body, but the Tamron 150-600 lens, the individual straps / clips are easily capable of handling that sort of weight.
I've had mine over 10 years, and while I'm not using it that frequently (to many other calls on my time to go out with the cameras as often as I'd like) there's no sign of wear or ageing on the clips.

Thank you for replying.

Need to find a XL version with the UniLoops fitted, but unable to find any in the UK store.

Only the regular version is available, or the 3/8 XL one. Have emailed optech to ask if I can swap the 3/8 with the UniLoops.

Thank you

The Op-Tech connectors are interchangable, so you could buy a set of UniLoops and use them in place of the 3/8 connectors.
I have Uni-loops on the strap lugs of my Sony 200-600, and 3/8 on my camera.

I still prefere the holdfast money maker. No way is that ever going to break. I've seen a few of the peak desing straps quick release gadget fails, the string seems to pull out of the round bit.
Failing the holdfast I stick to the original camera strap. Just add a padded cover.

Thank you for your help, will see what I can find.

Thank you, yes it is a good Dual Harness but not too keen on the leather option.

I’ve been using op tech straps for close to 20yrs.

Black rapid and Peak look like they have fancier engineering, but frankly you can find stories of them failing whereas the op tech just works without fuss

I’ve now been using a Peak Design slide for several months now. I think I might have been better with the lite version, but I’m genuinely loving it.

Hi Phil,

I am using the slide on both bodies too, but it is a pain when I have to use two bodies.

I am sure at some stage PD will introduce a dual version.

I don’t really have a need to use 2 cameras often nowadays. And I think if I did, I’d modify my Op Tech dual harness with PD anchor links.

Yep that is the plan or get the uni loop and they can just sit on the camera body.

It does work fine with just one camera too, I often use it like that. I wasnt a fan of leather till I got that one.
Yep, I know two people who use it have rated them well.

Thank you
