every little helps.
Julian, Just think how many people on here that you are going to make extremely happy by excepting this help in the spirit that it is given, how often do you get the chance in life to make hundreds of people happy.
Likewise its not very often that all of us get the the chance
to make one persons life more happy for so little effort.
Make it happen mate

Just logged in fantastic thread guys. My small contribution on the way.
Wheels - time to think of mods to your wheelchair to make photography easier for you. Manfrotto magic arm clamped to the wheelchair, DSLR with liveview, possibly linked to an external 7-8" monitor via the hdmi, hire David Bailey to take the shots for you
Maybe we could also if any extra cash left, get all the the equipment insured by a camera equipment insurance company so god forbid anything happens again they will repace everthing and it will not have an impact on Julian house hold insurance and raise the renewal quote
I also suggested to Si at the start of all this to make sure to get some Camera Armour too.Maybe we could also if any extra cash left, get all the the equipment insured by a camera equipment insurance company so god forbid anything happens again they will repace everthing and it will not have an impact on Julian house hold insurance and raise the renewal quote.

For the cost, easily well worth it.
Thats a good idea aswell, Merc would agree with that idea aswell as before he got his D700 his D90 hit the rocks at Portland Bill and the Armour might have prevented the damge to the button at the rear of the camera
He did that on purpose to buy the D700

Oh and the camera armour might actually make it more difficult for Wheels to actually use it. I think the upgrade to D300s might be more appropriate with its metal body.
Wheel,
How strong are your hands, just thinking about the weight side too.
Wow, £1400 at 2am......
This is getting VERY close to D300s, 18-200, flash, arm and bracket territory. A nice pro spec camera like that might be a bit more robust too. I had a D200 & 18-200 before getting the D700. Fantastic combination, still have live view but only loss will be the fold out screen. How important was that ?
Does the D300s have a battery grip free at the moment? If it does and the grip would be no use to Wheels then it could be auctioned off to add to the fund.

You sure he didn't just look in his hands and think "Eek - a Nikon!"

Not realy, the thing about the D5000 is the flip LCD screen in the back so Julian can get a good viewing angle, a D90 has alreadt been mooted and discounted for ame reason.
ON the otherhand, using ay spare to cover some insurance and some camera armour is a bloody brilliant idea.
