HAPPY 90th Birthday Ma'am

No, I'm saying it's not (as) surprising that she's reached the grand old age of 90 given her access to better medical care than most of the rest of us.

As in "she's 90? oh ok then" as opposed to "she's 90? what a grand thing that is gawd bless her and all who sail in her".

Though not everyone has such easy access.

Never had to sit for hours in Emergency waiting on medical attention.
Never had to wait weeks to visit her local surgery
and then see a tired worn out GP for 12 minutes hoping it's long enough for them to diagnose.
Never had to wait months for an appointment with a specialist.
Never had to hope her NHS trust had a doctor with the right skill set and the funding to give the treatment she needed.
Never had to wait months for a hospital bed to come free.

Her and a lot of other people, so what?

Very true, but this thread is about the Queen.

Actually it's about her 90th birthday, not whingeing about how "good she's got it".

Whingeing? seems to be a common get out for some folk, anyone who disagrees with your point of view is whingeing.

I can just imagine if the Royals (& the rich) WERE waiting in queues & adding to the waiting lists, the outrage that some would have.

"What the heck are they doing using the NHS etc when they can afford to go private!?"

If HRH lives to be a 100, will she send herself a telegram?
Just wondered :D

I may have misunderstood you but I get the impression that you aren't very keen on our glorious and illustrious Monarch.

Didn't you ounce call her 'Madge the Queen' ? - which I found to be quite disrespectful.

'Madge' as a nickname is normally reserved for Margaret, Madeline or even Madonna unless common knowledge has given away to complete confusion ?

For 'Madge' read Majesty. Even Your Madgeness.

This goes back to my earlier post about 'entitlment', you might find it disrespectful but I say you need to respect something or someone before you can disrespect them and I don't in this case.

Or Trump... Normal life ? No. Privileged? Yes. She stepped up at a very young age, grieving, and has worked ...differently yes, but worked all her adult life. Compare that with any politician ... No contest.

And she might be privileged and not have to queue for the things that we do but most of us mere mortals can at least afford more than Tupperware containers for our breakfast :D

Although a republican by instinct, I have some respect for the institution of the monarchy as applicable to this country. It seems somehow right for us.

But gawd luv us your majesty ma'am. God bless you while I tug a forelock, makes me want to vomit.

Oh, and happy birthday ms Windsor.

True, "we" pay towards the cost of the monarchy, but not nearly as much as you might think.
I would suspect its the opposite. Probably more than most people think.

Suppose you would prefer a President, Blair, Brown or Salmond?

What a democraticly elected head of state how absurd!

I've got nothing against her personally though. Happy belated bday Lizzie.

I'm not a Royalist, i like the queen though, whenever i see her on tv she always seems very respectful and even humble.

I can't see the royals being as popular if ever Charles becomes king, just my opinion.

Well indeed. Most reports will give a figure of 56p pppy, however if you factor in things like policing and security (and other "hidden" costs), the cost per person still only reaches the massive amount of £5.30 pppy.

Folk who believe the royals are a bunch of "civil list" spongers are labouring under false impressions.

There are now 17 or 18 to a pack. And actually not a lot of change out of 6 quid :(
(Some are nearer a tenner these days :( )
