weekly HelenC's 52 for 2024. Week 43-44 Rough & Night

Both nice candids. If No2 was mine I'd vertical crop and lose the 'togger :)

Candid - both good, although and although arguably there's more interest in the beach shot, I'm rather drawn to the lady in (what I think maybe) a coffee shop/cafe

Exit shot is brilliant and I think the first Candid picture is superb - the We're Open sign obscuring whatever she's looking at, and the depth of the room behind... Very intriguing!

Superb candid shot, love the way the light hits the subjects face, and the sign adds nice depth/story to the image.

I think the first Candid shot feels more candid if that makes sense.

The second one 'could' be one of the parents taking a pic of the rest of the family, whereas the first feels more observational.

I also think (and this is probably only because I'm viewing on a PC, the way the shot reveals itself to you as yoiu scroll down is interesting.

At first you just see the flowers in the window, then you see the woman - and it looks like she's in front of the glass, then you scroll down further and see that it's taken through the windon and she's behind it.

Both crackers, but I think the first is better suited to the theme.

I really like the Exit shot. The colours and light are superb.

The soft light in the first Candid shot really works.

I like your chosen shot very much, very tranquil.

Your candid shot is a belter, character and colour. Well spotted.

Thanks for the very positive feedback. I don't normally photograph things that move so very much appreciated :)

Bit late to the party as I was struggling with both subject and tech. This is why.
Panning is something I don't normally do, as you can see, neither do I usually photograph people or animals.
In this case man's best friend..

Week 42: Local.
Went out locally on Thursday evening to capture the Hunters Moon. Unfortunately a cloud bank got in the way so the moon wasn't exactly huge or clear by the time it scraped above it. Best laid plans, especially when someone stops by to say "it was much more impressive last night"!

I like your Local shot. I wonder if it has more impact if you crop it down to Landscape format by taking the top off, so no Hunter's Moon, just its reflection. Just a thought.

I like the moon through the cloud, makes it more interesting than a clear sky and still get a lovely reflection. Great picture

Lovely light and yes to the crop.

Fab local shot Helen, despite not being quite what you wanted.
Another +1 to try cropping to landscape a little

I love the light and colour. I have no idea if it's filters, editing, or a style chosen in camera etc, but I love the look.

Very nice shot. The clouds add depth to the picture and the shutter speed is just right to get a sense of motion without being too slow and milky or fast and crisp.

Great pic for local and love how you have retained some colour in the structure even with the low light.
