It came this morning, no proper pics of it or from it (although i have taken some) but I'm not home yet so a iphone pic will have to do for now.

85L/1.2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First impression.

A LOT OF GLASS
It weights more than the 24-70
The rear element is scary.............
Focus is slow, not a bit slow, but slow.

But it's the Keg!!!! Yay!!!

I am keeping the 1.8 still. I dont see it as an upgrade as i see them as different beasts.

I got the 1.2 mostly because i want to take some killer portraits. The 1.2 is unmatched, period.

It's a great lens, I've used one. I'm not sure it's ten times better than my Samyang though. ;)

I bet the DOF at 1.2 is tiny...

I bet you could probably do handheld shots of stars with this if you wanted to!

Th mkii, you can just make out the ii in the photo.

Th Hoky Trinity is commonly referred to the 35L, 85L and 135L. I already got the 35L and 135L, and a 85/1.8.

Not in my back-yard: 14-24 (or 17-35); 24-70 and 70-200.
They are the real Holy Trinity. (y)

Congrats on the lens. I'm still getting used to shooting 35mm at 1.4 after getting one in Jan. Will be looking forward to more of your shots with this bad boy in the future.

I wouldn't call that the Holy Trinity but I would call the 5D + 85 1.2 the perfect couple! There is something absoluting beautiful about the shots everybody seams to produce with that pair that I love.

I already own the 35L and 135L....hence holy trinity.

Have you not heard of that before? That's the holy trinity of primes, 35, 85, 135. The zooms are 16-35, 24-70, 70-200.

The primes are more treasured as most people tends to go for zooms.

I would have thought the 50 1.2 should also be part of the line up...

Congrats on ya new lens..you'll love it (y)
My trinity is 50L-85L-135L i had the 35L but i found it a little too wide for my uses so swapped for 50L ..happy boy now ;)

Regarding zooms,i also have 24-70 & 70-200 2.8is..these very seldom see my camera now :D

congratulations! nothing beats fast lenses, I used to have the 85L II, now I have 24L, 50L and 85L - but in FD mount :D

That would have to become the 'Fantastic Four' :)

Congrats! I'm aiming for the same Holy Trinity. 135 first, then 35 and finish off with the 85. Then it'll be bye-bye 24-105. All I need now is some money

I already have 16-35/2.8, 24-70/2.8 and 70-200/2.8 :)

Gosh...I have lots of lenses too...(y)
The 'Holy Trinity' is still the lenses I mentioned according to all the press photographers I worked with.

Call it what you will if it makes you happy though...:)

I tried the 85L instore the other day, wow - it's a step above anything I've used. The focus is a snail, but as a single purpose portrait lens, it's absolutely amazing. Next on my list once I win the lottery.

Funny, because the salesman in Jacobs actually asked me "you do know that this lens is VERY expensive don't you?" when I asked to try it lol. Then he tried to put it on a 550d for me to try... I wanted to smack him.

There are 2 sets of Holy Trinities. One for Zooms and one for Primes.

The zooms are more common, there are less people buy primes and even less who buy the L Primes.

I don't actually have the Canon 70-200L, just the Sigma so I can't officially say I have the Holy Trinity for zooms, just 2 out of the 3.

Left to right.

Sigma 70-200 APO DG Macro 2.8
Canon 24-70L 2.8
Canon 16-35L 2.8
Canon 135L 2.0
Canon 85L 1.2 Mkii
Canon 35L 1.4
Canon 85 1.8
Canon 50 1.4
