Yes
Not the Jay but the Caterpillar it is having for breakfast. Not very detailed as it was an early morning shot in a small wooded area and the Jay was not staying still in one spot for too long. At first when I took the shot in the dim light I thought it was part of a small snake, but after getting it onto to the PC I realised what it was, I am now curious given the size of it what kind of Butterfly ( I assume ) would have emerged from it, only clue I can give is that it was taken in Bulgaria.

Thanks Bian, if I had to rely on someone in a life or death situation let it be known I would not waste my time calling on you :p
possibly Emperor moth?
Looks about right for a 5th instar.

Thanks Scott for an informative reply, looking at Google images it seems that might be the one, but welcome any other comments.
