My Olympus and Om systems bird photos and maybe a few with my Canon system

Hi Bebop
I know you can save your different custom settings and button settings that's not the issue for me.
It's more how they will have tweaked the AF algorithm's supposedly to help.
For me the current set of algorithms work perfectly with the way I shoot.
Like you I had my R5 set up similarly.

My favourite adage applies

"If it ain't broke don't mess with it"

Fabulous picture.

Ah I see... well it's definitely working for you so I understand your stance :) I tend to update because I assume, perhaps naively, that it will always improve things.

I am just going through updating my R5 firmware - I am several updates behind, but it is purely because it has not been used for a year, other than some event photography which is not my usual genre. I can't quite bring myself to get rid of my Canon gear. I note that Canon now has pre-capture, but unlike OM you are limited to the original focus point. OM trail blazing :)

I made the swap fully at the end of last year
And I don't regret it if I want bigger files I use Topaz Gigapixel it's great.
I also learnt a way to process high iso files using DXO photolab and Topaz de noise that gives beautiful results I did some A3+ prints and blew the mind of a local camera club.

I was forced into swapping because of a major back issue.

I love Photolab - the file rendering and noise reduction is superb. Unfortunately I need to replace my computer to run the latest software. It is horribly slow with PL6. I'm just putting off the research and decision making.

There are a couple of things I miss about the Canon, and the R5 plus 100-500 is about the same weight as the OM1 and 150-400, but of course you get the aperture and focal length advantage. I miss being able to shoot wider and crop. It takes more skill with OM. I miss the double back button focusing too. Other than that, OM all the way.

I love my om1 locks on even in the worst of conditions. My two good friends who were with me had to resort to manually focusing.
They were using a Z9 and R5.
