Apple USB/SD adaptors
Have you got the USB adaptor. Can't you connect your camera directly by usb cable and import that way? That's how I've done it with my 50D.
When it connects, it pops up photo album and you tick the images you want to import and away you go.
Try learning about the tool that you've just bought, rather than dripping about how bad it is within 24 hours of getting it.
have to say it does sound like you bought one tool and you are trying to fudge it's use into things that laptops were designed to do.
an ipad does what it is intended to do very well - the things it isn't intended to do - it doesn't do them well. But that's not really a surprise is it?
How should I put this? My android phone can connect to FTP, access, read open, copy all my files back and forth and it cost me no extra. Why is iPad not meant to do this? Why do I need to jailbreak it to get some of it back? Please explain. This is not unreasonable.
I DO HAVE an MBP and use 99% time, but then I'm not upgrading till they release a proper update (8GB RAM by default, USB3 and IPS screen)
Because it's been designed that way. It's a walled garden approach and you're comparing that to open-source software. Makes no sense to me.
If you want to do it then jailbreak it. But otherwise you're suffering from a lack of pre-purchase research.
So just use your MBP.
you must realise that no one device is perfect. there are going to be things that one device does that another device doesn't do so well. If you want to do a tit for tat comparison then it's not really going to work.
For every one thing you say your android phone does better, i can pick something it does worse, but thats pointless. It is about what it does for you. A samsung tablet may well be the best tool for you, you probably should have done a bit more research before you spent your money

I realise all that, but I can't reconcile with the fact that apple can just tell us what we should or shouldn't do. We had MS with its anti-competitive practice, now they have taken the evil crown. Think about it, consumerism is BAD.
I'm with Joe (and everyone else) on this one.... What it does, it does very well.

It always makes me laugh how whenever there is an apple based thread that it quickly descends into defensive and offensive comments.
Not long ago apple fans boasted about what it could do. Now they defend what it can't do because what an apple device can't do is no longer important in life. I'm sure Android is similar but you don't hear much of that now since it overtook apple in the smart phone share of the market.
Looking forward to my wife getting her iPad 3 so I can have a butchers.

Errr I didn't do the exact same thing. Read again please.
I said apple have been overtook in the smart phone market place..... Oh...my...gawd!

This thread really needs a rollyeyesmily
Google it.
Oh wait.... I said google haha. Erm... Search it online instead.
joescrivens said:Agreed. Trollism at its best.
Ricardodaforce said:You're getting a bit confused. You're confusing the iPhone with iOS. Apple is now by far the most successful mobile phone manufacturer in the world.
Why is it trollism then? Any time someone says anything negative about apple people throw their internet dongles out of the pram, get back up fans and throw the troll card. It's pathetic.
I'm a mad footy fan who gets and loves the rivalry. But a technology company... I just don't get it.
It's like NO ONE can say a bad word about apple in these forums. We'll only be allowed one camera body potter household next.... Communism for the board

Excuse me then. Android overtook ios is what I should have said then?
Ricardodaforce said:You should think about your point, then post it in a coherent way instead of coming across like a little schoolboy. Maybe then you'd be taken a bit more seriously.
If you don't agree Apple is the world's leading mobile phone company, who do you think is?
joescrivens said:I don't feed trolls so I shall say good day to you and hope you aren't a Liverpool fan
Wow. Name calling now, nice.
I didn't mention who I believed is the worlds leading phone company. You minced my words.
So if you don't believe windows phone 7 is the best software then who do you think is? Oh wait.... You didn't mention anything about that did you...
Ricardodaforce said:You said "Apple have been overtook in the smart phone market". Which is not only very bad English, it's also factually wrong.
