Nikon D40 or Sony A200?

I tried out the D60, the Canon EOS1000d and the Sony A200 at the weekend (the shop didn't have a D40) and I was a little disappointed with the look of the D60 to be honest - thought it looked a bit 80s!

If anything I liked the feel of the Canon slightly more than the others, so I think it's slightly in the lead at the moment. But the very useful Camera Price Buster site tells me I can get the Sony with 2 lenses for about the same price as either the Nikon or Canon!

Aaaagh, I can't make decisions!

I have the chance to borrow a friend's D40 this week so at least I can try to work out what I like and what annoys me.

the D60 is more advanced than the D40 so if the D60 didn't do it for you ...

it's very, very hard to beat an A200 for vfm.

I'm usually not one to question personal opinion, but remember that you're not going to be taking pictures of the camera for its lifetime :p

Consider it more as buying in to a whole camera system and range, rather than just that one camera.
