Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

Can someone tell me I do not need the Om5 and 12-100 as I have a hankering for them..
12-100 lovely lens one of my best buys a touch front heavy with my Om10 but great on my OM1 not sure how it balances on OM5

Enquiring if anyone on here has used the 40-150 f2.8 with a 2x converter attached.

I take this lens attached to my OM 1 on holidays, plus my 1.4 converter when I have chance for a bit of wildlife/bird photography.
However, I do find sometimes it’s a bit short hence the thoughts of adding an Olympus 2x converter. Read a few online reviews with varying results, notably a few talking about softness, but I’ve not read any using this combo!

Any user opinions would be appreciated.

I use a 2x and 1.4 with a 300mm f4 and no noticeable lack of sharpness to date just obvious need for higher i.s.o values

My 40-150mm f2.8 and MC-20 are rarely separated. I get sharp shots with either MC-14 or tge MC-20.

This is with the MC-20.

Many thanks Alf, I don’t see any issue with those lovely shots. I think I’ll be placing a order for one very soon

Great deal from the OM shop on amazon for the OM 1. Just thought I would share.

OM 1 and the 12-40 F2.8 pro 2 lens for £1,180 ...from the OM shop itself...OM direct want £2,000 almost. Only 2 left
I have managed to persuade my wife that this was the camera I needed this morning... Only cost me a cafetiere coffee in the end. :) too good a deal to turn down.

I purchased one also...now I have two lol but wife wont know as they are the same camera LOL

I was off to WEX on Friday to look at the OM5 but I will take this instead.
It had to be done at that price... Great thinking two identical cameras :)

It has gone back up to the £1,465 price now, so I am glad I pulled the trigger.

I assume we can still purchase the extra warranty on the OM shop for these given they are from OM on Amazon?
Now that is a good point I can't see any reason why not.

Slide Lite

I have all 3 and find the Slide overkill and barely use it. Slide Lite and Leash are used all the time and the Slide just sits at home.

Same, except the Slide gets used on the Nikon gear.

I’d agree with the slide light too, I used mine for a while on m4/3s bodies with no issues at all before moving over to Sony where I’m still using the slide light.

Now I fancy the 40-150 F2.8 to go with the 12-40 F2.8.

Does anyone have that lens?

All this started with thinking of the OM5 and 12-100 F4

I'm currently considering moving completely away from FF you see.

I used to have it when I had the EM1, I got to the "holy trinity" ie 7-14f2.8pro / 12-40f2.8pro / 40-150f2.8pro plus a 1.4TC.

In the end, the 7-14 was sold due to the faff with filters, kept the 12-40, sold the TC plus 40-150 due to its weight but missed the reach so then sold the 12-40 and had the 12-100f4pro as the only lens and was great for a while until losing mojo. Now back with OMD1.2 - 12-40 pro and today the 40-150f4 has arrived and love the quality and the fact that its half the size and weight!
You gotta ask yourself if you're going to use that focal length do you actually need f2.8, don't get me wrong, brilliant lens, but.....

You have several choices with the 40-150 range with Olympus the F2.8 is superb ,but now showing its age and has lens hood issues , then there’s the new F4 model which has good reviews , but there’s also the very pocketable 40-150 R oft referred to as the plastic fantastic I, I sold my pro lens and went for the last one got it used for circa £60 and it does exactly the same job with in my books no loss in I.q

I'll have a look in Wex next time I am there. I may stick to my original plan of the 12-100 F4 as my do it all, one lens solution. That was the idea anyway, originally an OM5 with the 12-100 as my do it all. Then that deal on the OM1 came up so I grabbed that instead.

I have an OM1 and 90mm macro that's attached to my rails most of the time..and this new idea would be to replace all my FF kit that I barely use, as my love is macro...

I have the Lumix 70-300 and just checked and the 40-150 F2.8 is about the same size

I use a 40-150 mm f2.8 and MC-14 or MC-20 this work works well I have not had any lens hood issues and my lens has not had it easy

There is an Oly 75-300 mm too.

Well I did some trade in quotes yesterday with MPB (quicker than Wex to get a quote) and all my FF gear is worth about £3,000 (crying at the depreciation). So, I really need to think about it more. If it turns out I want to come back to FF it will cost me a small fortune to replace what I have.

Has anyone successfully claimed bonus cashback?

During their OM week I bought the 100-400 direct from OM Systems and when I claimed the cashback I used the code I was sent as a newsletter subscriber for the extra £50

They’ve paid me £400 today and I was expecting £400 plus the bonus £50.

Not complaining but just wondered if it had worked for others?

Thanks,

Neil

Hi all, can anyone recommend lenses for hiking? Ideally lightweight but covering a wide to long focal length?

Also if anyone wants to sell their OM-5 please let me know :)

Hi, I think for me a lightweight option would be the Panasonic 14-140mm I enjoyed this lens on the om5 mk3 before moving to full frame.

I think a general lens would be the 12-100 F4?

I'm currently considering this lens and the 40-150 F2.8 (which is not for hiking and such).

I'd also throw in the PL 12-60 which I used on my trip to USA paired with my GX9 :)
Thank you, I've heard of this one, just would like a little more reach
