overbez's 52 in 2023... Completed....

Nicely set up to tell a story as always excellent work

Thank-you Allan, hoping to continue.

Although I've just sent off my old faithful Nikon D5100 to be replaced with a D7200. (Hope it gets here in time for next week's theme).

So I'll have a few new buttons to learn in the coming weeks. Hopefully that'll keep me motivated to continue if the themes get tough!

Well set up and a very good idea,
Colours and angles are good.
A proper breakfast.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Stan. I've not, but I've watched a couple of videos on them and it's never as easy as it looks.

I actually ended up making another round of toast and frying another couple of eggs to eat for dinner and throwing the photographed ones as they went cold.

Think I set myself a tough challenge with the different elements and the timings required.

I have also watched some of those videos too and that's the reason I asked about Product Photography! Good to see you've put some of the 'trickeries' into practice and nice to hear you are putting effort into this challenge too.

Great shots again, can see some planning , and cooking, has gone into making the collage.

Thanks Keith. Appreciate your comments. Yes, I had something I could have posted from the morning before. But a combination of too slow shutter, not enough DOF on the toast, only a single egg, and the lower sandwich having nothing hanging out pushed me to reshoot.

Still don't feel I've nailed everything, not even sure I could if I had a third attempt. Close enough though.

Really like this image, very strong ad works great in monochrome.

That's so effective, especially the reflected eye. Quite eye-catching :exit:

That's very nicely taken. I hope you didn't have to break the mirror specifically for the shot?

Like that, just watched a youtube video on adding craced mirror and quite a few steps in it

Very creative.
Lighting is good too. Looks like Rembrandt style.
Thanks for posting the SOOC link.

Thanks Simon, no mirrors involved. As Keith says below, its done in PS (unless you were pulling my leg) :)

Great editing Graham, very effective and believable.

Cheers Colin. Not really used PS much over the past years.. but all the basics came back quite quickly.

Thanks Keith, the tracing of the path to make the layer mask was easy using the magnetic lasoo tool

Cheers Peter. Lighting you say.... This was my first shot(s) with my new D7200. It doesn't have a flip-round screen and I hadn't sorted anything to remotely view. So it was a selfie, on timer, trusting autofocus. Lighting was flash with small (4" x 5") softbox held up to the right, with an A3 card reflector to left.

Due to all the variables, I had a number of out of focus, where the light was great; and a number with good focus, but not the lighting! This one was the closest to what I wanted and I was able to edit up the slightly dark file, >>> edited file I took to PS <<<

If doing it again, I'd have remote view on my phone to see the camera view, flash on a lightstand, and reflector held in place....

Very cool image Graham, I especially like how you've caught a double image of the one eye.

Excellent bit of photoshopping the double eye is particularly pleasing, great idea

Thank-you Allan and Bill, getting the shadowed eye in the light was my aim in the base shot. The cracked mirror overlay I found afterwards, after flipping and rotating and stretching it, I managed to have the shards cutting through that eye. :)

I really like this, it's very powerful and works well in mono.

As soon as I saw it I knew it was Virginia Water, I used to live there many decades ago. Need to go back and check out the lake and totem poles.
But In my opinion the slow water effect is too much. I would imagine that only a couple of seconds exposure would suit it better

Great colour, great light and a perfect amount of blur on the water for me.
I take it your new camera arrived?

Lovely scene well captured and certainly looks full.

Cheers Colin.

Thanks for saying Pete, I think it's about as long as I could get away with. This is one of the first shots as the light moved round and off the falls soon after I got there. (Mornings best). My first real attempt with the 10 stop, so yet to get a feel for shutter speeds in this range.

Totem pole is fenced off a little at the moment though, gardens are looking nice but £9 for parking!! (Even on the road outside now too).

Great colour, great light and a perfect amount of blur on the water for me.

Thanks Allan, yep. D7200 replacing the D5100 after 12 years. Pretty similar and does feel a little 'faster'. Wi-Fi allowing link with my phone was also useful here. :)

Nice movement in the clouds maybe, for me, a little too much in the water, you were going to post the unedited shot- be good to see difference. Cheers

@SimonH , thanks Simon.
@Gav-canon Cheers Gav. I guess filters are a thing that you get and use, and then they sit... until you find them again!
@Peter123 , thanks Peter, Yep I would have stayed a bit longer but the light moved round.

Thanks Keith. Appreciate you saying the movement is a little much. I'm inclined to agree with you. Thanks for the nudge on the unedited one!

I rather like the one shot at 1/80 Graham. Perhaps somewhere between the two would have worked well.

Easy for me to say afterwards :)

Nice one. I quite like the smoothing of the water - the rest of the image is well exposed too.
