weekly rpn's 2016 Project 52 - Week 52 CELEBRATE Added (Complete)

Great shot never would have guessed a camera! Lovely detail and black and white works great.

Hi Stan

Old ... top notch processing, POV & wide angle. (y)

Metal ... yep, says metal, spot on.

EDIT ... just seen what it is ... amazing.

Hi Stan, too late to join the fun but I couldn't go past without saying well done on a well shot and very entertaining image.

Looked too chunky to be part of a camera but its hard to judge scale

Thanks everyone for the nice comments

Cheers Brian and appreciated

Cheers Chris, Its a macro shot the details are a bit out of 'scale' hence most people are way off with the guessing game!

Old...cracking shot from can beautiful building. Bang on.

Metal...super detail. I would never have guessed it being part of the internals of a camera!

Not the original idea I was after for this week but lack of willing model, any zoo nearby and props like restraints or handcuffs, well apart from the pinky furry one, ;) :naughty: leads me to my second option of this captive animal (Bearded Dragon). This was taken in a pet shop early this morning to avoid too many kids running about and thanks to the staff for allowing me to take photos. Yes, I did asked permission first just in case.

I'm a bit surprised by the image quality and lack of reflections since the camera is a compact mirrorless Fuji X-E1 coupled with a 18-55mm lens with the dragon behind glass.

Week 2 - Captive (animal)

That'll do nicely. I thought maybe you were in Cyprus or somewhere for a minute ... with a nice long lens. Good detail, did you have the lens touching the glass window?

Thanks David, I wish I am in Cyprus with the weather here in the UK. Never stop raining up here in NE Scotland in the past few days .

No, I was a few feet back from the glass/dragon.

It's just a trick someone told me about recently ... lens touching window. But I guess you'd then be too close.

Hi, you have done well with the restrictions would have been nice to see the whole thing including tail but probably not possible given the conditions

As Allan said, it would have been nice to see all the tail, or at least where it disappears to,
But I know full well that its not always possible.
Cracking beardy Stan well captured (y)

The reflections generally come from passing people, usually wearing bright clothes.
That also includes "you" if you can't get the lens tight up against the glass.

Its the way that I shoot most of my animals, if the sun is directly behind the glass, you still get a bit of a reflection and even a green hue, if the animal is on grass though.

What a detailed photo Stan! nice and sharp, I prefer the second one though.

Nice job,
Oscar

Cheers Oscar, the second image is the unprocessed straight-out-of-camera jpg shot. As said I was quite impressed with the image quality from the little, compares to my other Nikon, Fuji X-E1.

Good idea for the theme, well executed.

Thanks Chris, appreciated.

I much prefer that one as the tail naturally sort of disappears

Hi Stan, cool choice for the theme, i like the crop and the sharpness is really good.

Fantastic shot Stan! Loving the detail in the scales and the dof. Especially impressed that it was taken through glass.

Nice detail and pose ;)

Hey Stan :)

Captive - Liking that, the lizard is nicely separated from the background, I'm also liking the green tones throughout the image and the line of timber ends... and the skin has FANTASTIC detail when viewed large on flickr (y)

Thanks John and Dean for the comments

Old - what a cracking image for the theme, lovely colours in the image well done.

Metal - a nice take on the theme, plenty of detail in the image which I like.

Captive - perfect image for the theme zero crit from me.

Hi Stan. Brilliant image and helpful reading to see how you took it. Nicely sharp and detailed.

I too use a mirrorless camera although it's a Sony A7 in my case and it's a little gem. I would never have guessed it was taken from behind glass as the detail is great even in the sooc version and the dof is spot on. Nice interpretation Stan (y)

Thanks Mandy for the catch-up comments, really appreciated. Nice to see you carrying on doing another 52's this year too.

Cheers Carl, I know the shot is a bit misleading and doesn't really convey Captive initially so i thought an in-depth explanation is required.

Thanks Jill, I'm more than happy with my little Fuji, compares to the Nikon D800, and quite surprised with the image results really.

Like all you pictures so far I had no idea what the metal one was but liked it anyway
love the crisp clear detail on the dragon fantastic shot especially through glass
