Guy sitting at supermarket door today waved a coffee cup today and asked for ‘spare’ change, I offered him a days work cash in hand but he refused, so I suggested he go elsewhere to beg in case someone-me- called the law, I usually ignore him and any others but just thought today I’ll look for a reaction.

To be fair the State payment system makes doing one days work really not worth the trouble. I have posted before about how peoples payments are just stopped until the DWP have sorted things out. This is often weeks and sometimes even months.

Days paid work - nah sorry mate, I'd have to declare it. Not worth the hassle.

Not days but months, in fact maybe years, lost track of how long he’s been a regular at the doors, not too skint to be smoking and using a mobile phone, and be in a local bar after 8pm.
