The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

When mistakes happen, but they turn good in the end. On the image below the flash failed to fire, so the original raw was almost totally black, with just the light from the candles showing. Processed in LR, the end result came out pretty well, capturing the essence of the moment.

Annoying news.

I dropped my camera (Fuji X-S10) down the stairs this morning (bloody arthritic hands) with my XF 16-80 lens on. It bounced all the way down from the top to the bottom. At first glance, everything seemed fine and it worked, and incredibly no visibly cosmetic damage and nothing rattling inside.

Went to and took a bunch of photos, but when I started viewing them on screen it's apparent that although the centre of the images are sharp, the edges are most definitely blurry (see attached photo - resized to 1074 long edge).

I swapped out the lens for the base 18-55 and took a few shots with that lens, and everything seems fine, so it appears that the camera body is fine but there is a problem with the lens.

Does anyone know if this is likely to be fixable? Will be taking it into the Cardiff Camera Centre on Friday

Tamping...

Almost certainly fixable, would recommend Fuji's own 'Fixed Price ' repair service

16-80 is a fixed £156, it will come back like a new lens!

I did a bit of a comparison of the XF35mm lenses... I set up a bit of a poll out of interest to see which everyone prefers. The comparison is here with the poll https://www.flixelpix.net/the-fujifilm-xf-35mm-lenses-compared/ but good to discuss favourites here and why. I jump between the two but I do think the f/2 is a great everyday lens.
Interesting article, thanks for sharing that. I have the F/1.4 and I really love it; not tried it for anything too demanding, focus-wise so I have no problems with it. I would like to try the new 33mm F/1.4 at some point, but until my lens breaks and I can't get another one there's really no need.

I haven't used the 35f2, but I did have the 23f2 for a number of years, including some overlap with the 35f1.4, so whilst I cannot give a definitive answer I have my preference - and it is the f1.4 version, although neither of them are bad lenses. I put a prime on when I want to use a wide aperture or get that special look. If I want flexibility etc I will use a prime lens. I don't find the autofocus too bad on my X-H2S, but I'm not using it for sports, usually kids running around. I also got mine cheaper than the 35f2, as Curry's were getting rid of them when it was discontinued.

As per @skullfunkerry I expect the 33f1.14 is the best of both worlds.

Now you both have me thinking the 33 might cover all bases. I hadn’t spotted it was also weather resistant. It’s quite expensive though.

I've gt the 33 f1.4, and unless I need a telephoto or. a wide angle, it stays on the camera, I just love it. Works really well with the X-T5. I still have the 35 f1.4, but it's a bit slow by comparison.
