The GAS confessional - all who suffer are welcome. :)

The Nikon Df has been on my wish-list for quite a while,
Every so often, I wonder why Nikon have never thought of building a digital system into an exact copy of the original F's body.

They could even put an LCD in the top plate, with the original design of interchangeable prism and the same fitting, so you could use all the original viewfinders. That is a camera I'd definitely buy!

I'm de-gassing, here. Can you hear a gentle, background 'pheeeshhh' sound? We tend to accumulate too many possessions, so I'm getting rid of some. Charity shops, eBay - whatever fits the bill ... the aim is a kind of freedom.

Of course I'm keeping a few bits of stuff ...

My turn: just traded in my EM1 mk3 for an OM1 mk2. Cashback to come and a fair trade in. I now have high quality Olympus batteries to move on. Setting it up tomorrow.

Last week I finally came across a UK Yashica ML 35mm f/2.8 that wasn't over £300........ They seem to be rarer than the Contax Carl Zeiss in c/y mount!

That is a crazy price for a 35mm Yashica ML, there is nothing wrong with them but they are nothing special or at least my copy is not. So much so that I can't remember when I last used it, possibly on an EOS adapter just after I bought it .

GAS by proxy , I bought my son a Nikon AIS 35-105 for thirty quid it will go on his FG20 body which cost twenty quid. A beginners film outfit for half of nothing plus some time re setting the shutter mirror interlock and replacing the light foam around the back.

I picked up a Praktica Nova yesterday with a nice MOG Domiplan 50/2.8 for £5
The camera does seem to have a few issues (film wind on, mirror locking up...) probably all related to the attempt someone made at fixing it, but the lens is in much better condition than my previous Domiplan.

I've had various Novas, Nova 1s and Prakticamats and the only thing I can say in their praise is that they were just about worth what little I paid for them. When they worked they were good cameras but they tended to stop working without warning.

Oddly enough, their predessor, the Praktica IV, is as tough as old boots and the "L" series, which followed the Novas, are good solid cameras. Still, my daughter appreciated one Nova at least....

When they worked, they were also good little earners, as in this illustration for an advertising feature...

I bought a second hand x-e4 yesterday after much deliberation on saving up for an x-t50 + the new Fuji 16-50 lens.
Saved myself about £750, although will probably spend a good chunk of that on another lens

Replaced the macro lens with a new RF 100mm macro, was out yesterday with it and for handheld shots, it just seems to work better .

P-exd my D7200 and lenses, Canon G5x, Fujifilm X70 and the Nikon P900 to buy the A6700 with 18-135mm and also the Tamron 18-300mm. No cash to lay out and inItially very happy to rationalise, fewer batteries to charge and no dithering about which camera to take out for the day. Now I think I should have the X100vi as my daily shooter despite knowing I don’t really need it. I should ‘spend the money on new clothes’ says dearest. Aren’t women strange?

Yep. Nothing for me :)

Ohhhh.... :ROFLMAO: Actually, I bought a handmade brown leather strap for the X100f - but that's not really gear is it....? That's an accessory :)
Well... it's a slippery slope... is a 'bag' gear? Is a grip? :D I have many bags... I almost wrote too many bags but I am not sure that is possible.

Lei[cough]ca again!

"Too many *****" is an alien concept in pretty much all hobbies - one can have "not enough", "enough" and even "more than enough" but never "too many"!

Not really GAS but I have bought myself a ProGrope Hero 10. A few spare batteries and a deeper waterproof case - not so much for deeper diving (snorkelling at the deepest!) as for the extra layer of waterproofing the case should offer.

Canon R1 as you may have seen in the Canon thread. Traded in R5 and under-used lenses.

This was the last time I posted my vintage lens line up...

Pretty much completed my Sony lens line up for the moment with the purchase of the 50mm F1.2. In the future I may add the 85mm F1.4 ii to replace the Mk1 and 1.8 I currently have but I don't use either of them much. The new 28-70F2 is a possible but not until prices fall. The 20mm F1.8 is one I will buy if I ever do astro again but have other options I can use like 14 and 24GMs. All in all the Sony lenses are fantastic with only the 85mm GM poor in terms of focus speed. I use most of those I have pretty regularly with the 400 and 70-200 most used but the 300 starting to become used more and more when I am covering sport where I move around. I love the 600 and use that for bird photography and some rugby, amazing lens.

Sony bringing out the A1ii is what is getting my GAS agitated. I have the a9iii and the focusing and pre-capture are so useful and the ergonomics excellent. To have the most important parts of the A9iii with the excellent 50mp sensor will be hard to resist. However, the price of upgrade is just too high and the original A1s are still fantastic cameras, assuming the firmware updates ok. I'll be working as much as I can next year to make the decision on upgrading to A1 iis easier.

Well bodies, lenses and camera wise..... I'm pretty settled tbh Certainly with the FF Sony kit.

The only possible upgrade is from the X100f but even that does what I want it to do really so....

Well I've finally cracked (it didn't take long :ROFLMAO:) and my R1 arrives tomorrow.

Looking at my current kit, my wife thinks I have a problem:

R1
R3
R5

EF 400mm f/2.8L III
RF 15-35mm f/2.8L
RF 50mm f/1.2L
RF 85mm f/1.2L
RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro
RF 24-105mm f/2.8L
RF 70-200mm f/2.8L
RF 100-500mm f4.5-7.1L

Oh and I can't forget my little Canon G5X Mark II which is a handy 'in the pocket' camera.

Probably one more purchase for me, I want to swap out my RF 70-200 for the new internal zoom model, using the 24-105mm 2.8 it's incredible and with the smallest of thumb movements you can go from 24mm to 105mm, so I expect to order this in the next 6 weeks.

Right I'm off to my therapy session.....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

That internal zoom removes a reason for me to not consider Canon. The R5ii looks a great camera but I couldn't live with an trombone 70-200. I've probably too much invested in Sony kit to swap now but I may end up having a dabble in Canon as their big white zooms, 100-300 and 200-400 would be very useful. The 24-105 would be a welcome lens too

I've often fancied trying Canon just to see what they're all about, but like you I'm too heavily invested in Sony. The other issue for me is the Canon equivalents of a number of my lenses are bigger, heavier and often more expensive.

As mentioned in the Z thread, I am getting a Z8 + 24/120 at the weekend....and I have about 6 months to decide whether to keep D850, D500 or even the K-1 (come on Ricoh - bring out the K1iii).

Which brings me to the fact I will have 8 cameras - none of which are unused - 7 different formats.

So,
Nikon FX mirrorless
Nikon FX
Nikon DX
Pentax FF digital
Pentax film (x2) 1 AF and 1 MF
Canon T70
Mamiya 645.

I think it will be a long time before I replace the 70-200 VR2 and 500/4E. Thankfully the 3 Nikons take the same battery and XQD/CFEb cards..

I moved from Nikon to Sony because I wanted to go mirrorless. I suspect I may have chosen Canon if they had teh R5ii at the time. Sony is excellent but so are Nikon and Canon when it comes to the high level kit. Not often I blame the kit for a missed shot so I suspect there is little to be gained from a move

Well, Black Friday has done me again. A set of Kase Pro Revolution magnetic filters from Wex arrived today

And it's not even Friday yet. :$
