Hi Mark

think all has been covered...I'm still thinking bout wether the terminal needs to be in focus but I suspect it does....good use of negative space & cracking blacks (y)

Cheers for all your comments, it seems the majority would have preferred the terminal in shot.

Thanks for the feedback (y)

Both fitting the theme, second is better for me due to the better background participants, and the separation of the main subject from them..

The couple in yellow on the second add much to the story of the event too.

Great idea for the theme like both images.

Thanks.

Thanks, that one is my favourite of the two for those reasons :)

I like them both but #2 is the best for me :)
I like them both, good DoF.
Well done Mark... on theme and works for me...

Thanks very much :)

Good take on the theme, like the 1st pic but if you cropped a few inches of the left it would get rid of the runner in the red and the subject would be walking into the photo so inproving the composition

2nd works better for me Mark, prefer the composition, good take on the theme (y)

Positive - Excellent minimal style shot. The focus on the terminal has been mentioned but I have to say I feel the mono conversion is excellent

Time - Good thinking to fit the to theme. Do all runners adopt this pose when they finish? :p

Good DoF in both shots, I prefer the 1st for the pose of the runner and cropping the red person out would stop him drawing attention away from the subject ( or change the red to green :) )

Thanks, they all seemed to ;)

Two good shots, but #2 has it for me because it's a better composition.

#2 defiantly the better composition. (y)

Hi, number 2 for me too, nice different view of the theme

I agree that number 2 is the better photo. Works with the theme and you framed them well I think.

Both on theme and well captured.

Tighter crop for me to isolate.

Cheers.

I like the main figure in #1 but the comp in #2 is better, mainly due to the b/g figures being separate, partic the couple holding hands which helps give a lift.

Ta very much.

You could be right :)

hi Mark

image #2 for me as well ( though your crop works better in #1)
Fab use of DOF in both shots...the thing that makes #2 for me is the other people in shot...the couple wandering off on the lhs & the runner coming in from the rhs ....right place right time.....(y)

Hi Mark :)

Time - I'm liking the first one myself, great DoF in both, I feel she appears more separated from the background subjects, individually I'm preferring the Guy's image but I think the couple in yellow distract from him - good couple of shots, nice original idea too (y)

Hi Mark both nice images like the tighter crop works well and puts more focus on the runner

Swirl

Swirl
by cowboy72, on Flickr

I had a million and one ideas for this theme but non came to fruition due to time.

I went for a central position in a square crop to hopefully bring the eye either into the centre or out from the centre following the lines of the swirl.

Not really up to much so if you don't want to comment I don't blame ya :)

Swirl - fits the theme, crit I find the shadow under the shell a little to harsh for my tastes, but the shell is a pretty shell.

Hi Mark :)

Sorry, but for me it needs a bit more DoF and the lighting/Shadow is a bit harsh, the square crop would work without the shadow, but as it is I feel in needs to be a tad wider as the shadow is clipped, it is on theme though :)

Hi there.....it's swirly :) but maybe a bit bland....it lacks that extra bit of oomph!

It's a pretty shell Mark and swirly :)

On theme. Although I'm not keen on the harsh shadow, the use of the subtle vignette brings attention to the subject

Hi Mark
Swirl - good subject and i quite like the focus. Good choice of b/g. The underside seems a little dark and the shadow a bit harsh - i agree with DK that a wider crop (taking in more at the right) would work

Thanks for the comments, I agree about the shadow and it being a bit bland :)

And onto Link

Well maybe not as Flickr has decided it doesn't want me sharing anymore :(

Ha flickr and your stupidness.
