Digital Medium Format Thread

Morning all and a quick question.

Out of interest, and for those that use Fujifilm GFX system, as it uses a Sony sensor, what do you use for processing RAW files?

Reason I ask is that I have an XT camera and when using Fuji Studio X you have to have the camera attached to computer because it uses the camera as a RAW Converter engine, is this the same with the GFX models?

I am not interested in getting Capture One and really do not take enough images to warrant getting into the Adobe system.

Pretty sure X Raw Studio works with the GFX range.

I use lightroom.... that said, I the GFX files are huge. I upgraded to a mac m2 max and it needs plugging in for high power mode on the processor, then lightroom runs fine. Outside of this, my other computers really struggle and LR slows down a lot.

@Topsy Nice selection of images, the crop you have used is that in camera or done in post?

Just looked at your px500 images and there are some lovely ones on there, you print them out?

I would and have them all over the wall, despite what MOH would say :ROFLMAO:

Thanks Nick,

All aspect ratios shot in camera (that's one of the beauties of the GFX system loads of aspect ratios to select).

Yes I do print and hang but I don't have enough wallspace for all of them. ;)

Finally got out with the 50Sii and it's a lovely camera. I'm so impressed with the image quality, even from JPEG. I may have forgotten to turn RAW on and was metering assuming I'd have more latitude in post. Just a fun system to work with...

So since none of you wanted to buy my GFX50S, I'll just have to keep on using it :D

A significant Vauxhall - Baby Bertha, built during 1974/75 it dominated races for the next 3 years in teh hands of Gerry Marshall, loosley based on a VAuxhall Firenza, it featured a spacefarme chassis and a V8 Repco-Holden engine (effectively a 5.7l Chevvy engine).

Another car with a bit of history, Between 1997 and 1999 this actual car was in our household!! We sold it in 1999 to Simon and Ann who still own it! Saturday was the first time I'd seen the car for 25 years! It wasn't registered TVR22 when we owned it, Simon bought the plate from the estate of an ex-TVR director, it was used in the 1970's/80's as a plate for the TVR Press Cars.

Just a good old boys
Never meanin' no harm
Beats all you never saw
Been in trouble with the law since the day they was born
Straightening the curves, yeah
Flattenin' the hills
Someday the mountain might get 'em, but the law never will
Makin' their way the only way they know how
That's just a little bit more than the law will allow..............................

Oulton over the weekend for the 750MC meeting a couple from the paddock but did not take many. All Fuji GFX100s + 35-70mm and even at f5.6 I am surprised at how shallow the DOF can be.

We had a clear night for the northern lights last night, so went into the park behind our house with the 100sii and the 23mm. The files are so pleasurable to work with - can really make the colours pop and get the details out from the structure in the aurorae. Big lesson learned though - the 23mm focusses past infinity. Not a problem on aurora photos (thought the stars are slightly oof), but lesson learned. Happy all the same! Softness is partially export related and not only focus errors - definitely need to learn some new workflows with the 100MPix files. Likewise, noise is being enhanced on the export - not seen to this extend in lightroom. Happy for any tips from people experienced with these big files and LR!
