Digital Medium Format Thread

pentax 150mm arrived. Looks ok in the middle but the edge appear to distort, so I am guessing its more for full frame... I'll post some examples soon

It's for the Penatx 645 system so should have more than enough coverage for the smaller 44x33 sensor.

As I mentioned previously there are ES effects in at least one of those images, I would run the camera in Mechanical Shutter Only and see if that sharpens up the images. It is unlikely that the Pentax 150mm has the resolving capability that the GFX100S is capable of, but you should still get 'nice' images from it.

What is general opinion on X2D 100C?
I was wondering, such an expensive camera, but there must be something that it is worth buying, is that right?
Does anyone here has it?
When having such a high res camera, could it be simple just to have wide angle lens and crop if needed narrower angle, without getting a narrow angle lens for example?

Since selling my GFX, I have been looking at medium format options again and I just love a few things about the X2D. The form factor, the menus, the colours that come from it. It's a very nice thing if that bit is important. However I can't get past it being a lot more of an investment over a GFX and the Fuji has a better (IMO) selection of native lenses at faster apertures.

Money no object, I would probably go for the Hasselblad but alas, I won't be doing in the foreseeable.

I think @dancook had/has one (he changes cameras like there is no tomorrow  )might be worth seeing if he could add something to the discussion.

Like Downhill above I have been looking at the X series machines but also the cost of the X2D just puts me off. I have played with one for a short while and they are lovely to handle and use but looking at the their eco system, for me unless you use a lot of flash then the advantage it has with leaf shutter over the Fuji narrows the difference, for me anyway.

The Hasselblad also has a narrow range of lens when compared to the Fuji system and it is far easier to adapt Leica, Hasselblad, Canon, Nikon etc etc lans to the Fuji using adapters because of Fuji focal plane shutter.

I picked up a Fuji GFX 100s a while ago and I find that the film simulation Nostalgia Neg, with some tweaking in post you can get the images to look fairly close to the ones out of the Hasselblad.

However, also like Downhill, if I had the funds, yes I would buy a X2D as well

I have the x2d, I have had its predecessors too. Every time I see the files in lightroom it just reminds me how amazed I am by the image quality.

I have 20-35E, 55V and 80 1.9 (will sell 38V soon)

Plenty of room to crop but it’s hard to just plan for it, the Leica Q series has crop lines which make it easier to visualise. since If you crop off centre, then your FOV may be skewiff.

I settled on 2x Sony A1, X2D and Leica Q3. Not likely to change any time soon.

I have the X2D100C.
It is a beautifully made piece of kit and so easy to use.
The image quality, when seen on my 27" monitor is just amazing. The colours are real if that makes sense.

Just got a Asahi Optik Pentax M SMC 120mm f2.8 delivered.
Seems small, and not a 645 mount. Is it worth getting an adaptor?
If so should a pk to gfx work?
It might vignette, but is anyway worth getting the pk adapter - some of the 35mm format Pentax lenses have lovely character on gfx. The 77mm for example has fantastic rendering. Not perfectly sharp on the larger format, but really pleasing images
