Discussion / idle chat thread (2022) Week 52 Showcase

I shall shortly be adding the 2023 threads, that is assuming that everyone wants to continue the 52 into 2023?
Roughly 50 people put their name down, for this year, and roughly half are still in and pretty much up to date.

A couple or three things.

1) if anyone wants to take over they are welcome (yes I mention this every year and there's never a peep from anyone)
2) there won't be a flickr group next year, it's off the back of my personal Flickr, and I'm dropping Flickr at the end of the year.
If anyone wants to start & run the group for2023, let me know, and I'll tag it.
3) @LC2 Tim offered awhile back to continue with the scrolls, assuming this still stands, Tim?

So in short, a 2023 52 or not?
What does take over mean exactly if it’s pulling themes out of a hat weekly then I don’t mind taking over if you want a rest

What does take over mean exactly
Updating threads and the headers, keeping an eye on the posts to make sure they fall roughly in line with the themes.
Populating & Pulling themes from the current list to make sure nothing is repeated for 2-3 years,

edited to add, a lot of that can only be done by staff, so thanks for the offer, but
my thinking was that someone take it completely, set up the threads, and maybe inject new life into it, and make it their own.

Now I'm absolutely convinced there are 2 Wednesdays in a week !

But one Morticia a week is enough?

Week 47 ( seriously?)

This one should be "pretty" easy

Indeed! Single figures weeks left to go, who'da-thunk-it and where has this last 6 months gone??!!!

and where has this last 6 months gone??!!!
When you find that out, can you let me know, as I've no idea either!
And why is spring to Autumn far shorter than Autumn to Spring?
Another of life's great mystery's

As a relative late comer to this weekly challenge, I have enjoyed the last couple of years participating, and I'm very grateful to Chris & Tim who organise it and keep tabs on things. Also very thankful for all those who regularly (or occasionally) take the time to comment on my submissions, as there's no doubt the feedback I've received has helped improve my shooting.
However, I've found the last few weeks extremely, er, challenging. The weeks come around so quickly and consequently I've been struggling to complete the themes - if I'm going to do it, I want to do it within the time lines as that's the point of a weekly challenge. I've ended up posting things just in the nick of time, and often with images shot with more luck than judgement.
The scary thing is, I don't even really have an excuse being retired and therefore theoretically having lots of time, but I don't know where that time goes (apart from playing golf!)

I think the point of all the above is that I'm very 50/50 at the moment about whether I'm up for next year, although it would be a shame to not do it.

I am the same. I feel like the quality of my images has gone downhill, and they didn't start from a very good place

I was 50/50 at the start of this year, and now I'm 60/40 but I don't know which way :ROFLMAO: I think I might miss it as it does at least get me thinking, even if I'm not very good at converting that into doing.

Another 50/50 here but as I'm retired I may as well continue.
I have found it stimulating at times but lately it's become a bit of a chore.

I think it's easier in spring/summer when both the light and the daylight hours are better.

There's a bit of that here (but can't put a %age on it!), however, it's more circumstances that keep changing at the moment! Hopefully, things are settling down a bit but if necessary, I can always find a few minutes to get some sort of shot to fit the theme. I'm still enjoying the challenge of thinking about the shots I WANT to get, even if I sometimes have to switch to different plans!

Blimey, a few 50/50's suddenly appeared.

I personally try to keep up and post something every week.
My images are not that good but the feedback I get is great and it certainly helps me in my attempts to get better.

My advice to those who are still deciding whether to join for another year is to go for it. Don't be too self-critical and enjoy the process.

Exactly - the FUN is FUNdemental!

Unfortunately still laid up after being in hospital, and haven’t picked a camera up in weeks. Hoping I will be able to catch up with every theme I’ve missed over the last few weeks :(

Unfortunately still laid up after being in hospital, :(
Sorry to hear that, Nick.
I hope you recover quickly and fully before too long.

I will be up for it again, I take most of my 52 photos while walking the dog, which I do every day. Makes me think harder about some themes and some are just snaps to fit, but it's all part and parcel of the competition. Don't make it a chore make it fun.

We’ll I didn’t take much convincing….

Sign me up….

Whats the worst that can happen?
