weekly Helen C's 52 for 23. Week 52 - Favourite shot of 2023

Very nice, I like the way the weekly theme sits in the composition but isn't the main focus, more it's effect on the interior.

Lovely window shot - the soft light coming through brightening the tops of the candles where the wax is thinnest is really pleasing. Well composed in portrait too!

A wonderful shot Helen. Simple, effective use of light and shadow.

Very nice - I like that!

Pretty and Windows both lovely shots as usual Helen!

Nice light Helen. If you go back take a cig lighter :)
@-Oy- I did look for some form of ignition...

Lovely light and shadows, candle height even makes a pattern. Couple of bits in front of the candles are a bit distracting once noticed

Thanks for the kind comments peeps. Much appreciated.

Just in time... I've had decorators at the house so not much time to get out and about with the camera. Why is it that when you drive around you see lots of abandoned agricultural vehicles, buildings etc but when you actually want to find one they go into hiding!

Nice one Helen and suits the mono :)

Abandoned, like the processing and looks as though it has been there a while, my shot was going to be a bull dozer a bit off the road on Denbigh moors, Went up there and its gone  :$ .

Nice mono in the abandoned shot. So much to take in in that initially straightforward image.

Well done with sticking with your search - that one works!

@nog Thanks. I hope you found an alternative...
I love that sign on the fence and the fact that you can just walk around either end of it.

Nice spot.

Thanks for taking the time to drop in and comment.

That is a fantastic shot Helen! Lovely warm colours and a well balanced exposure. I can almost hear the combine and started sneezing as soon as I saw it.

I think the bee is great, lovely colours.
Windows - just gorgeous, it's got tremendous emotion in the shot
Abandoned works well in mono
Possession - lovely atmosphere, the colours and dust are great.

Fab bit of farm stuff! Most tend to just hire one in for the job!

Thanks @-Oy- I think there is some contracting going on with this one.

Thanks folks.. very much appreciated, as ever.

Just back from a weekend in Staithes. I googled "is a boat a machine" and Wikipedia told me it is so this is not a shoehorn... honest guv!!

I don't know if a boat is a machine Helen but it would definitely contain some machines, and it's such a lovely shot.

Yep that ^^^^ Nice one :)

Is a boat a machine, who cares, a great shot with great colour.
That farmers possession is worth more than our house I bet. Nice detail in the image.

Lovely colours and light reflecting just in front of the boat

Love the dust in Possession and the light in the Machine shot...

Works for me - fab sunset too!

Thanks for the kind comments folks. I was rather lucky with the boat and had to scrabble to remove my long exposure set up but worth it!

This one is really all about the sky but some nice circular bales came my way too. We've had quite a few of these skies recently which make for great photography rather than those blanket blue sunny ones ;)

Nice image, that was an idea I was also thinking of. I like the mono pp on this as it really makes the moodiness of the sky 'pop'.

Cracking mono Helen :)

B&W great choice for that sky, though looking forward to a few boring blue cloudless skies over the next few days. :)

Always good when something in the shot helps with your "theme hunting". A great image Helen!

Nicely done. I suppose it’s an alternative take on “crop circles”!

Nice circles... but I do miss seeing the old small bales

Nice shot.

Whenever I see bales now it always reminds me of my daughter (not that long ago) saying that they were all there waiting to be rolled out into the field to grow,

My wife and I were in hysterics.
@Kell that's brilliant.. and very logcial thinking!

A lovely colourful shot Helen :)

Lovely seasonal capture that works well in B&W, I probably wouldn't have considered B&W for that image so it taught me something.
