weekly Jaycee' 52 for '22 .........Finished

After reading @LC2' critique on @Fuji Dave post I went out to shoot some bird pics but got a bit distracted.

I went to two locations but decided to use the pics from the second site which is a Bio- mass plant.

The first picture was underexposed so it looks monochrome and needed very few adjustments, and the Bio-mass building is grey so that too didn't have to be adjusted much

Just have to choose what goes where.

Decided to go with the Bio-Mass picture as that was intended for this weeks challenge, the "Path" picture although it fitted the theme was unintentional.

Good images John, I probably tend to lean towards the path shot though.

You've captured the structure well.
I think a close up of one of the rivetted joints would be interesting.

I always like "under the bridge" shots but have never been able to really get something that I am happy with.

You've done a good job John, and I agree with Peter above. I would be interesting to see what you could come up with in terms of close-up shots.

Thanks guys, I had to crop it a bit as my composition skills were a bit off, as I pass there quite often I'll get a shot of the rivets, it did cross my mind on the way back but it was one off those nippy windy days and I just wanted to get home

Week 22 treasure

I used my Sigma 70-300 zoom/macro lens for this shot, thought I would try something "arty" This was probably the longest I have taken trying to get a in focus half decent shot. And when I was happy I notices that the hallmark (which was my focus point) was upside down

Any way after about 30 odd attempts I settled on this one. Not 100% happy with it but it is a learning curve, also since the shot I have got myself a tripod :)

Critique would be welcome as macro photography is something I would like to get into.

Colours and set up are good. Also you have the focus of the lighting right.
Have you tried focus stacking? You’ll need that tripod. Get it right and it gives very good results

No real critique from me John other than I'd have included a bit more at the top if and if necessary a little less at the bottom. Other than that, a great idea and picture. I like it. Well done :D

I can't be of much help as I tend to concentrate on landscapes. It looks good to me.. a nice combination of colours too.

I really like the idea and the colours.

I'm afraid it made me chuckle about the hallmark, because that's exactly the sort of thing I do! Or I discover a hair across the image or something :)

I think this is the wonderful thing about the 52 - you end up trying different things and experimenting and even if you're not 100% happy, then at least you have learnt something. It is a 100 times better than my treasure shot, so I would feel happy with it.

I think compositionally, my eye is a little torn between the flower centre and the ring - both are interesting. If you wanted more depth of field then you could stack the image, but I rather like the soft out of focus petals. For me they add to the romantic feel of the image.

Some lovely perspective on that John.
Complete guess, but that looks familiar - like somewhere out in the Vale near Monknash or St Donats

Thanks for the comments guys,.

Yes Simon, Monknash, I cycle pass there fairly often and the fields are always changing, well spotted :)

This is a very nice shot John, with Parallel Paths Pointing the viewer into the Photo.

Week 25 Snappers choice

week 25 Snappers choice by John, on Flickr

I have missed a few weeks so just doing a bit of catch up.

I re-visited the area from week 24 this time with my camera and got some nice coastal and country shots

Week 23 solid

Nice glass of water with a few cubes of "solid" water in. I had to go and buy an ice cube tray, the reason why the post is late :)

Week 26 Half

I like the soft slightly out of focus look of the "Half" concealed Rabbit with the yellow in focus meadow flowers at the top right

The solid shot is perfect for a Barrybados day like today Jon!
The half shot would work better for me if the rabbit had been the focus, but it still fits the theme.

When I saw this I thought it was going to be Handel.

I had thought of that but only got Handel on CD so Birdy had to suffice....:)

It's a shame they didn't work out how to hide the wires, I'm not sure the pink record works, but understand the reason you used it. I'm thinking that having a black record with the tracks highlighted by the lighting would be good if it works.
