There are to many rumours. In regard to the number of cameras, it's idiots like us fuelling the situation, so we're to blame.

I finally got hold of my Z 7II … the first photo had to be of my dog of course—just a snap.

I did have a panic moment though … I put the battery in and it was completely dead. I nearly had a heart attack but charged and all's right with the camera!.

Trip to Wex to collect a (s/h) FTZ II, spare battery, new Peak Design anchors and an L-bracket and I'm all set for Sunday at the Mazda MX5 club rally.

I’ve been going through my photos from an evening at Bempton Cliffs last month. I found this one which seems a bit different to the other BiF photos I took.

Northern Gannet by -Rob'81-

I’m not sure if it’s a little soft or not. This is a crop down to 28MP. I’m really liking the extra MP for cropping.

Generally I was quite impressed with the Bird AF of the Z8. It seemed to track them well with the 400mm f4.5. It’s starting to be my favourite ever Nikon combination.

Off to visit the squirrels at the end of the month so fingers crossed to try them out up there.

Considering it is a crop out of the frame I would say looking at the eye that it is pretty sharp.
It is always difficult assessing these types of images as the shutterspeed and ISO as well as aperture can all effect the apparent sharpness.

Just picked up the new Viltrox 40mm f2.5 and looking forward to using it whilst I'm away for a few days. Swapping between that and the 85mm 1.8 should get me some nice shots around the old towns and make best use of the light and shade I'll be hunting.

Haven't had a 40mm prime before and can't recall specifically setting my 24-70 at that focal length, so interested to see the results for my shooting.

particularly like the composition of this one -- the lines all seem to be in the right place.
Yes it is a very fine composition. Definitely my favourite.

The price for the Z8 and Z9 from Panamoz are just amazing compared with what the Nikon top end Bodies cost a few years ago and well below Sony and Canon

They just seem a bargain at £2840 and £3540 delivered - especially the Z8 as it takes the less expensive cards and batteries if you don't want the latest

How much is my D850 and D750 worth, bugger all I suppose!!

The curse of our bird feeders - plus he also has 4 "mates"

Quick Zf shot with Nikon 500PF VR - a great lens for hand-held shots
( I quite like the Zf, but it's not really for me [and birds])

Evening All

I’ve fallen away from photography (mainly landscape) over the last few years mainly down to personal issues and I’m keen to get the bug back to get me out and about again, my current body is a D7200 but lugging all my kit around is putting me off so I’ve had a look and I’m considering moving to mirrorless and purchasing a second hand Z6ii, I mainly use and 18-55 but having a look at what mirrorless lenses are available there’s not much choice, so I’m asking what the general consensus is for lenses? Keep old lenses and get kit to use them on mirrorless or change to new mount lenses?

The 24-70 f4 is a great lens and can be picked up at a good price second hand. Not sure that camera and lens will be much lighter than the D7200 which was my favourite camera until it fell in the sea

If weight is an issue, maybe look at a Z FC instead. Great little camera and very light and small.

If size and weight matters then personally I'd get the Fuji X-T5 + 18-55, that lens is way better than an average kit lens and the combo is stellar. One thing I've learnt about Nikon is that you can't go small and light on FF and the X-T5 is far better than the ZFC.

There’s a Nikon Z50 + the 16-50 kit lens for sale on here (not mine) which is ideal IMO.
It gives 24-75 FF equivalent.
The lens is equal to the Fuji and the slightly wider angle will be a benefit for landscapes.

I loved the D750. Possibly my favourite ever Nikon camera……well until I picked up the Z8. I can see that become my favourite ever Nikon camera. Probably not what you want to hear.

Thanks Rob, I'd had a bit of a rest from photographer, never really jelled with my GRiii - just a bit too small so I sold it - read the Z section on here, liked the look of the Zf so a few weeks ago I pressed the Panamoz button and it arrived in 5 days, but do I need it? ............then there was a Leica Q advertised on here, I'd wanted one so I bought it , went for a few days to Venice and according to my wife took some lovely photos, so I'm now looking to upgrade to the Q3, but it's expensive .......... .............I used to take a lot of bird shots ........I then got my Nikon 600mm f4 out hooked it up to my D850 took a few bird shots and then started looking at the Z8/Z9 ............. .............I'm retired and just have far too much time to trawl the internet ............... no idea what to do ......... I really like the Leica Q ...... but it's fixed at 28mm, some reports say effectively it's 24mm, but I crop a lot and the extra MP's of the Q3 will help .......... but the Z8 is tempting plus I have lots of good Nikon F mount glass and the D850 has served me very well..

I haven't shot with a Fuji for a while but they're excellent cameras. If the X-T5 is a similar weight and size to the Z FC then I'd endorse that recommendation. But it's also about "what do you need"? Back in the day a D1X was considered a professional camera body and well respected. The Z FC is a modern camera and whilst it's a crop sensor, there's was nothing in my legacy images that I'm wanting.

What bird is that, Bill? Looks like a nice shot to me although I'm just getting into bird and nature photography. What are you struggling with re. the ZF? I absolutely love mine for all genres. We have the same problem with Starlings. We have probably a dozen finches, several Blue Tits and goodness knows how many Starlings. Together (mainly the Starlings), they've eaten nearly 5KG of bird food in less that 4 weeks.
