Very nice, was that from the evil bay? I have a followed search (or whatever they call it) for those, and now that my Plustek 8200i has gone back, and once the refund arrives, I'll be tempted. I'd be very interested to read your opinion (maybe in the big scanner thread?) once you've used it for a while. It seems a nice scanner: many of the other Reflecta scanners appear to have no film holder, which does worry me in terms of accurate positioning.

What slightly worried me was a comment by @Cuchulainn that a Proscan 10T he sold some time ago apparently developed some thin black lines on the edges after a while.

better for 35mm compared to your Epson V700?
I remember a detail review of the V750 (V700 similar?) and the guy was happy to show16 X 20" colour exhibition prints (from 35mm)....well how many here print up to 16 X 20" ? So for jpgs posted here and say 8 X12 prints, a V700 should be good enough. Maybe the proscan or Plustek are better for sharper crops or Dmax? then there would be a point in another scanner... if that's what you want?

The Plustek out-resolves the V700 noticeably, and the Reflecta out-resolves the Plustek. Flatbed scans of 35mm are somewhat "mushy" in my opinion, although I agree that it probably isn't an issue for smaller prints (or online viewing at smaller sizes). It's not really about print sizes for me though - I rarely print any of my images - it's about getting the best quality scans that I can.

Here's a link to a 5k file of a 35mm film shot that I've re-scanned on the Reflecta. This image has been re-sized down to 5000 pixels on the long edge in Photoshop before uploading to Flickr. The original scan is bigger (scanned at 5000dpi). This was shot with an Olympus Trip 35 on Fomapan 100.

I'll provide some feedback when I've used it more. The results so far are good, but the Plustek has an edge in some useability areas based on early experience.

Looks VG, and in your previous post, you just use the V700 for MF.

Yeah, the V700 is used for MF and 4x5. The larger negatives do a much better job at hiding the mushiness that is more noticeable on 35mm and usually look pretty good. I'd love to be able to scan larger negatives at a better resolution, but the only real options are the Plustek 120 scanner, and stuff like Nikon Coolscans, but the price of these is too high.

Reflecta and PrimeFilm are related AFAIK, in that one of them sells re-badged versions of the other. I'm about 60% of the view that PrimeFilm is the OEM, but that's based on some fairly tenuous reasoning!
 
My filmomat 135 auto carrier arrived today along with the smart convert control panel; looking forward to testing them !

Blimey, that's fast (and no doubt expensive!). I have a lot of film with very variable spacing (including occasional overlaps); I'm wondering how well it would cope with that?
 
It copes fine Chris - it has full manual mode, semi manual and semi auto so all bases are covered!

It's expensive but cheap compared to the Noritsu I had and I'm a lot more comfortable knowing it's 'modern' technology.

Not new, but recently discovered in a box of photography bits and pieces, my Olympus XA 35mm compact camera and tripod last used about 15 to 20 years ago. Luckily the batteries in the camera had been removed or it could have been unuseable. Two LR44 button batteries confirmed that the meter and shutter were working, but it needed the light seals replacing. I did that yesterday in the work room and left the camera back open overnight to let any fumes from the adhesive evaporate. We are going away next month so I'll be lugging a 35mm camera and tripod around with me just like old times.

This made me miss my old XA then I looked at the prices being asked for them and decided I don't need one................ o_O

When you substitute the word 'want' for 'need' the prices doesn't matter as much. ;)

My XA looks er, well used, AKA carried around in a jacket pocket for far too long to be worth anything but still has a nice clean lens and works.

I couldn't find the A11 flash unit that goes with the camera. Looking around in the usual places I came across a listing on the French freead site leboncoin for an " Olympus A16 Camera". I clicked the link and discovered that it was an Olympus XA with an A16 flash. It had a broken rewind lever, but the seller had no idea whether either worked. He accepted a sale or return deal if it didn't. The camera came yesterday complete with batteries, worked as it should as did the flash. The new XA is in better nick than the one I already had. Just need a rewind lever off a cheap non functional camera and I can flog it ffor more than I paid for the camera and flash.
