Big Soft Moose...... there was a guy that I *think* used to work for the forestry people.
Are you sure you're not thinking about me ??An older chap who seemed to just disagree with anyone over everything and anything- he was a riot...
now, you may be jesting - but honestly, of all the people we've had on here that have disappeared, I think I do Genuinely miss him as much as anyone. A well needed alternative viewpoint to the sometimes over technique focussed approach, and while I may have occasionally had to reprimand him for the way he expressed himself, I seldom if ever actually disagreed with what he was saying. I think that this place was his "venting place" where he could actually just let rip, as opposed to having to be professional at work while working with the students.Pookeyhead.
There are quite a few members whose delivery I ignore because the message is useful. I'd say it was probably Pookyhead that initially taught me that. Everyone has a right to be offended, but it doesn't make the words hold less value.now, you may be jesting - but honestly, of all the people we've had on here that have disappeared, I think I do Genuinely miss him as much as anyone. Pretty sure he was the ex Para Reg lad I was thinking about earlier, didn't he end up as a gamekeeper?Would that be Les Moxon?
Sorry to hear that Fraser, about your stroke and your camera gear....Still here, much quieter, suffered a massive stroke in 2021, very uncontroversial now from my wheelchair
See here: https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/t...-a-stroke-and-how-well-they-recovered.763499/
Life changing events give you a different perspective on everything.
I had some of my cameras stolen (Rolleiflex 3.5f & Nikon D4) whilst I was recovering; can only assume it was my Carers who regularly went upstairs whilst I couldn't
Robin Smart? Studio guy? Or a different Robin...There was also a guy called Robin? took some superb wildlife shots of birds?
Yes, that's him.Pretty sure he was the ex Para Reg lad I was thinking about earlier, didn't he end up as a gamekeeper?
Think his call sign was Les321?

"Red Robin", he has his own Facebook Group that features Dragonflies and similar insects IIRC, he also did some train photographyI think it was a different Robin.
Have to say, as a long-time mod on here....
SO many names. SO many unrepeatable back stories as to disappearances...
Taking the staff hat off for a moment - one thing that these names have triggered with me is that to be honest, this place was a lot more fun when we argued about photography as opposed to just about politics and mythology in the hot topics section.
That was the dot man as I called him!Wasn't there a prolific Canadian called Kodiac...?
He used to give me good feedback on small. studio shots I'd done YBHWasn't there a prolific Canadian called Kodiac...?

Ah, thanks!Typo. TBH at a guess
Pookeyhead.
He sounds nutsPookeyhead was someone I couldn't get on with - it felt like he had so much knowledge and understanding of art, yet took delight in slamming the door shut in the faces of those who would have liked to learn. I know some aspired to receive his blessing, and he did sometimes bring a special insight to the forum, but the price was a very high level of frustration and anger that caused division and bad feeling.
TBH I think he saw the forum as a plaything, with no concern for the well-being of others. I breathed a big sigh of relief when he stopped posting.

It doesn't present as a prime photo-sharing space. Overall, the evidence doesn't back up that notion. It's a discussion space.Place still seems active, maybe not as active in terms of the number of photos I see posted.
Typo - TBHYbh..?
That’s right, he was a photography lecturer at Blackpool college. I think his real name was David Gregory.I found Pookeyhead a welcome presence. He had a certain reality, which whilst not all-encompassing could readily challenge the dippers-in, culturally speaking. Was he David? Had a Ford Mustang & worked in Blackpool? A seaside resort with lots of people on benefits.
I think his 'handle' was Lez525 and think I came across him on another forum..................but if it was the one I am thinking of he has vanished from that forum now ???Pretty sure he was the ex Para Reg lad I was thinking about earlier, didn't he end up as a gamekeeper?
