The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

@gilbouk Just seen a set of basketball shots in the Facebook Sony A7 IV Shooters group taken with the Tamron 70-180 and they are tack sharp.

For anybody looking to update the firmware on their Sony A7IV - an extract from one of the users on the Facebook group. Perhaps safer to wait until Sony have ironed out any teething problems with the new software.

"The firmware update is a crapshoot, to say the least. And I never have firmware update issues, until today.
I had to try several times - kept getting a cryptic 5 long and 7 (not 6 as defined on the site) blinks … and would seem to hang.
After several battery swaps, and using a different SD card, it miraculously “took.”
Definitely not the 6 mins it says on the site.
My advice - don’t try it unless you really want it - not much reason to do so it appears.'

Betty had fun

You had 'real' snow. We just had a light dusting here, which soon turned to mush - much to the annoyance of our dog, who found it just collected on his ball when I threw it for him.
He then proceeded to try and roll it around to clear the slush off - which would only collect more

Dogs do give you a good laugh don't they

It was up to the top of my wellies this morning on the fields, it's thawing quickly now though.

My wife's car this morning.

Done mine with no problem.

Decided to rent the 400mm f2.8 for the kingfisher shoot in the end, it's likely to be a one off so want the best chance of getting a decent shot.

Some A7 and the cheapest 35mm on the market pictures (Pergear 35mm f1.4.)

Just a light dusting here,

35mm and f5.6 and branches are rarely going to add up to wonderful bokeh.

Lion at f1.4.

Cracking photos as always. I regret not taking my camera out yesterday now, although it was still heavily snowing at the time. I love the angle of your shots, I assume you've got the camera at ground level?

Cheers mate, yeah laying in the snow for most of them.

If I were you'd I'd be buying some smaller drawers Dave :ROFLMAO:

Tell me about it lol
I've stopped now as need to try and figure out what to do with some of it. Two telescopes over 1,000mm one comes with the tripod ( forgot the name ) the other on it's own, then there's two iphones I had on contract so keeping my S22 Ultra and Iphone 14 Pro Max. Far to many tripods and one of them could hold a house up ( lol ) and an apple Ipad with keyboard and pencil plus christ knows how many lens filters.
Off to make a brew.

I’ve been looking at telescopes recently.

This is what I have.

I'd never post them though, as cost a fortune.

Is it possible to lock the focus ring on the Sigma 85mm 1.4 DG DN, if it isn't it appears mine has become stuck and only moves 1cm maximum

Not that I'm aware of  :$

Edit: Just looked at the owners manual and no mention of a zoom ring lock, sounds like it’s broken :(

Autofocus still works fine, not really impressed with Sigmas quality to be honest. It can't be more than 2 years old.
Just edited my post. Not great that, sounds like bad luck rather than quality per se as I’ve not read of any other issues?. Not sure what’s causing it to stick as it’s fly by wire

I’m not sure how long it’s been like that as I rarely use MF. It hasn’t taken any knocks either and hasn’t been used much over the last couple months. I don’t want to force it in case it makes the lens unusable.

It’s a pain for sure and I’d be a bit cheesed off if it happened to mine. If it was mine I’d try and force it knowing me as I’d be sending it in for repair anyway ;) Tbh I don’t know if mine moves or not as I’ve never used it
Sigma give a 3 year warranty to UK buyers.
That’s good to know, I wasn’t aware of that (y)
