The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I have just got around to updating the March 15 firmware updates for the XF 35, 10-24mm and 55-200mm. Has anybody noticed any discernible difference ?

Looking at the Fuji website, the updates were for the 18-55, 18-135, 55-200 and 10-24 and is all about the OIS stability. I was hoping there was an update for the 35, but alas no :(

Yes, that's where I downloaded it from. I noted OIS but just wondered if anyone noticed a real-world difference?

I do wonder if there will be anymore updates for the 35mm 1.4 after the new 35mm f2 is released but then again probably not much more they can add.

Trying to decide on a prime for my xt10 or just leave the 18-55 on it or put the 35mm on it and get the 16-55mm 2.8 for the xt1:rolleyes:

As has been said regularly, the 35mm is a fantastic little lens! I doubt you'd go wrong getting one. I absolutely love mine.

Oh dear! I've just been blackmailed into getting an X-T10 kit. Now what do I sell to mitigate this? Got it from John Lewis with 2 year warranty and an extra tenner off after hard negotiation.

The 16-55 optically is stellar but I thought it felt too much on the XT1 body only, might have been better with the grip though!

i tested the XT-1 out yesterday in Jessops with the Fuji 18-135 lens .... i was staggered at the quality of the images straight out of camera ... stunning images to say the least ..

On holiday at the moment and I m enjoying the 16-55mm f2.8. Although I have few primes with me they have stayed in the bag.

I'm a great advocate of Nikon and currently use both the D750/D810 but when it comes down to personal work and day trips I just love the X-T1, it's not just the solid construction but the ability to have all the important controls on the top plate the ISO, speed dial and exposure compensation. Combine that with the aperture on lens it's just so nice shoot with. Perhaps my bias is based on years with Nikon SLRs where this set up was de rigour back in the day, or maybe the optical quality of the XF lenses ( even the zooms) whatever it is the Fuji is a great system !

My x-t1 arrives Monday along with a 60mm macro. Paired with the 32mm Zeiss looking forward to giving it a good test.

ill be moving fully from Canon over to fuji in the very near future ...
Make sure you sell your Canon gear first, I moved to Fuji about 18 months ago and can't bear to let my Canon gear go :(

This seems to be one of the busiest threads on here atm, good to see it !

I've been finally getting through a massive backlog of images from the last 3 or 4 months. I've had able images that I thought were from the 35 or 56 and was pleasantly surprised to see it was the 18-135. Yes, it doesn't open super wide in terms of aperture, but it's a very capable lens!

I agree, I'm growing to like this lens very much. I was on holiday in May and to be honest I didn't want a cumbersome combo so my x100t was my go to camera, but I plan to make more use of the XT1/18-135mm at the end of September when I'm on holiday again.

I'm seriously considering flogging a load of my manual focus gear in order to fund a nice Fuji portrait lens :)

Not sure on the 56/1.2 or 90/2 though...I'm kinda drawn to the 90mm as Amazon France seem to be offering it for £600ish fairly regularly!

I want something to give some nice shallow depth of field for full length toddler portraits and I think the 60/2.4 might not be quite fast enough (aperture wise). Will take my Takumar 55/2 and Zeiss 85/1.4 out tomorrow to see what works.

Barrysprout...so you want a 10-24? I just got a minter from MPB - the only one they had!!!
Traded in some Canon lenses for it and some cash back to me.
Just back from a day in Anglesey with it. I'm well impressed. It looks every bit as good as my L lenses. Ken Rockwell reckons it's the best lens Fuji make.
Hope you get one.

The Zeiss Touit 50mm f/2.8 XF Fuji Mount really is a great portrait lens. At f/2.8 it gives a very pleasant creamy depth of field. It's also a true 1:1 macro lens unlike the 90mm so it's very versatile.

Hi guys,

Currently looking at getting the X-T10, as it's a good £200 cheaper than the X-T1 and the features it lacks compared to the X-T1, I'm not too bothered about.

However, I have just spotted that I can maybe make more savings going with the X-E2? So I was just wondering, how many of you here have upgraded from an X-E2 to an X-T10? Or use both? Are the features/specs similar to the point where there's no advantage or disadvantage with going with either model?

Use both, at the moment the XT10 has the better AF over the XE-2,plus its weather you prefer the rangefinder style over the DSLR style :)

The good thing about Fuji is that they give you the same sensor for all 3 of those cameras, it's just a question of form factor and firmware/autofocus.

Personally the difference in focus ability is such that I'd go with the X-T10 right now, although there is supposed to be a firmware update for the X-E2 coming later in the year

In terms of better autofocus/ability. Are you guys referring to the new AF options I read about (X-T1 got the new options through a firmware update) or is there also an improvement in speed/accuracy of it's AF in general in modes such as centre/single point focus etc?

Also read the X-T10 has the option to go with an electronic shutter. I've come from a Nikon with a 1/4000 shutter max. With fast 1.8 primes. In real world shooting, have any of you regularly been in a situation where the faster electronic shutter has been a must-have, or is 1/4000 mechanical shutter been more than enough?

Had the X-T1 in Edinburgh yesterday for a wander.

Both of my shots with the 56mm in the quoted post used the electronic shutter. ISO200 1/8000 & 1/14000. & these are in Scotland! Then again I didn't have to be shooting at f1.2, but I did because it could

1/4000 covers most things for me but the birding fraternity would argue that it won't catch a diving kingfisher entering the water.

Autofocus is quicker in general as well as having more modes :)

Also the pure electronic shutter is useful, I managed to get 1/4400 today using the 18-55 and it was so seamless I would not have noticed if there had not been no shutter noise

Thanks for all the help guys, really appreciate it :)

I think there is only one last question. Even though the X-T10 has better AF than the X-E2, how good/bad is the AF in general terms as a stand-alone camera, if that makes sense.

If you only had the X-E2, will you/are you happy and content with the AF on it?

PS: Just for reference. Other than the Nikon DSLR that I had, my mirrorless camera is a Sony NEX 6. So I guess the question is, if I'm happy with the AF on the NEX 6, will I be happy with the AF on the X-E2?
