The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Although all four are good I think the second pair are better than the first. The second one of the second pair is such a beautiful natural portrait that if it were mine I would crop it to a portrait orientation, get a quality print done, put it in a very nice frame and display it in my lounge.

Thanks for the feedback and kind words. much appreciated. Her mum has asked me to do a shoot for her for every birthday until she is 18! I'm thinking of making 1 print from each year and then giving her an album on her 18th.

A friend of mine did also say it would look better in portrait orientation.

I'll have a tinker with it later and see how it looks.

what are the most obvious advantages of the XT1 Alan?

Everything! EVF is larger and the add on eye cup is better at shielding light (no such option for the E series). Tilting rear screen (also bigger), use of the whole D pad for custom buttons on the T1 so no menu diving for easy stuff, more than one custom white balance stored on the T1, can review and zoom/scroll on the T1 using the EVF comfortably, Lets not forget AF speed! The E1 does something weird to the colours in the EVF when using +1 compensation or higher. Can't delete all images in review mode using the delete button. AF point selection is weird, pressing OK does not select the position as you'd expect it to but resets it to centre. There is one thing I prefer on the E1 and that's the position of the AFL/AEL button. Lets not forget the AF speed and accuracy too! In anything other than bright outdoors light the E1 is painful.

When I was considering an upgrade from my Fuji S5 I considered the new X line, but went for Sony A7R instead. Glad I did, I think using the X-E1 as an only camera, especially on it's original firmware, would have put me off the X range for life and I'd never have discovered the joy of using the T1. The E1 is OK as my Infra Red Body sine it won't be getting used for anything where speed matters.

Do the Fuji Instax mini printers work with any device? Or does it have to be via a Fuji camera.

Eg will it print images from a Sony or Nikon?

Can't post this on facebook, work think I was at a funeral :D

Was this today? I was filling up at Tesco Watford this morning next to the west coast main line and carriages like this plus some pullmans were heading north empty, pulled by a diesel.

Yes - Euston - Holyhead, with the passengers continuing on to Ireland, the return journey only being as far as Crewe by Steam Traction. (Presumably FS is going elsewhere for the next jaunt) Seen here at Malltraeth viaduct, unless anyone from work asks in which case it's somewhere in the Birmingham area!

anyone use a blackrapid sports sling with the XT-1? ... wonder if its worth trying one out

I have one. Bought it when I had the 5D3. Tried it a couple of times with X-T1 but it seems overkill. Weight and bulk ratios feel wrong.
Bought a Cordweaver neck strap. Can use that sling style. Just feels right.

That my opinion! I'm happy to sell the BR if you want it.

thanks for the info, ..funny enough i did have one myself when i also had the 5D3 but felt a bit silly wearing it! ... moved it on to a family member so could get it back if i wanted. the fooj is a bit more discrete so just wondered if i could make use of it especially if im out with the dog and need free hands

Possible third built in format size.

The X-T1, which I have, has two built in format options 3:2 and 1:1 (square) and I assume that the X-Pro1 and X-Pro2 are the same.

Given that 10 x 8 prints and multiples of this print size, such as 15 x 12 and 20 x 16, are still very popular for portrait prints and Fuji's OOC jpegs are of such high quality, does anyone else think that the provision of the 5 x 4 ratio as a third built in format option would be of value.

Nikon has provided this in their high end cameras for some time, currently the D5, D4(s) and D810 have it as an option, which I think is to satisfy the wedding/event market and for which, judging by the number of postings about that market, Fuji now seems to becoming a viable option.

I've just noticed all the photos from my xt10 on my Flickr have the wrong date. As in, not even the right year.
Date and time is set correctly in camera (both home and local).
Anyone got any idea why? Does Lightroom have a setting for that which I havent set?

Cheers, so if you only had the XT would you go for the lite

I quite like a thicker strap and the way it looks but I haven't tried the lite. Check out some Google images and see which you think looks better.

Are you manipulating them on a computer? Does that have the right date / time? Seems weird though as I would have expected Flickr to use the EXIF date/time.

Yep I edit in lightroom, the computer is set right. I haven't checked exif of the files on the computer yet, will do that tomorrow.
It's only from the xt10 though. I sold my other camera before getting it but the xt10 photos appear mixed in way back in my timeline...

Really like the first one George, crisp, clear, perfect timing with the boat and well framed. That bridge can be a nightmare to get a good angle on!

Many thanks for that Sir, much appreciated comments.(y)

"I know that you're very familiar with the area".
