WCMUT....what cheered me up today

Last time I drove while abroad many years ago I quickly realised that I should get the bus instead got to a crossroads and I had a panic moment and was completely confused as to who had right of way , luckily it wasn’t busy
Was a long time ago was on in Corfu and haven’t tried to drive abroad since decided it was safer for everyone if I didn’t
Driving in the US with their "Turn right on red" rule, but some junctions have a "No turn right on red", but the locals still get irritated if you don't......

Hire car In Greece, wearing my prescription sunglasses came around a bend and entered a tunnel with no lighting. Quite interesting  :$ until I found the switch for the car lights

Had a very similar experience in Andorra. A very scary few yards before i found the lights switch
Just one more reason I keep my ten year old Hyundai - Automatic headlights!... :naughty:

Yesterday rather than today.

Managing to get a lost dog back to its owner.

Mrs T spotted a dog wandering about outside our house. It clearly was not happy and kept looking around. Fortunately it did not cross the road(which luckily was quiet) often. Although not frantic it would not come close to strangers and the dog treats Mrs T tried didn't work. However, when she tried a squeaky dog toy it did work and she managed to get a lead on the dog.

Oddly enough it was quite happy to come in our house, though we had to isolate our dog as he does not like other dogs. We hoped the owner might come looking but no luck so we took it to a local vet who checked the chip and found an address. As we left the dog at the vets the owner turned up so all ended well.

Certainly a good deed well thought out and done :D

If only humans could all be chipped. We've had a few visitors over the years that I wold have been happier to return to their owners sooner rather than later! :)

I did not drive in Cyprus but we did take a few mini cabs to and from the hotel. There were four of us so three in the back and me in the front passenger seat which would have been fine only I headed to get into the drivers door almost every time.
I could not get used to the fact that we were on a Greek island and they drive on the same side of the road as we do, how confusing!
I also brought the usual stash of euro two pin socket adapters in the suit case, which were not requires as the have UK 13A outlets.
A lovely place, a great holiday but much confusion.

After the really dirty rain that the recent storm brought with it, I managed to get the windows clean. Found my 15' pole and the mop and squeegee that fits onto it. Took 2 passes to get the upstairs ones pretty much streak free but they're better than the last lot of professional cleaners managed! (They went to a long brush and hose a couple of years ago, then more than doubled their rate in a month, so we ditched them.)

I've been into cars and driving since I was a little boy and I've mostly been into two seat soft tops which have tended to be pretty basic. I've had a few posher cars and the poshest is my Evoque. I was out in it today when I thought "Oh, that looks like a heated seat button. I wonder if it works." :D It does work and for the first time in my life I had a heated bum :D I was surprised how long the heat lasted once I'd turned it off.

I keep finding little features, I've only had it two years and four months so I'm still just learning it :D

Problem is that it takes as long to heat up as it does to cool down! Mrs Nod's heated steering wheel is much faster to heat up. Do your seats cool as well as heat?

My last car had heated seats but my latest does not. We bought a couple of sheepskin rugs which we pop on the seats in winter. Works a treat and doesn't drain the battery!

I don't know. I'll have a look next time I drive it.

My wife had a car with heated seats and, like every other car with that facility I've tried, it was an unpleasant sensation. They may be nicer in a properly cold country.

I use the heated back rather than the ar5e - using the base heater can make it feel like something's there that shouldn't be! The cooler's nice in both areas.

As someone who worked shifts, which involved setting off for work at 05:00 in the morning, I found the heated seats in my Volvo C30 to be very handy over winter... :D :D :D

In the Tesla it takes 2 mins to warm up

I've just had a few pieces of mint chocolate orange and it's lovely :D

I've never had this before and I didn't know it existed but when I saw it in ASDA I had to have it :D You should too :D

There is a down side. I haven't had a chocolate orange for years and I'm sure the segments are a lot thinner these days. Still lovely though.

It's that's the XF cooled seats you are referring to, when I first used them I thought I'd wet myself. A very strange sensation, but good fun playing the same trick on new passengers! haha

Finding out that my recently bought electro acoustic Takamine guitar has really heavy strings that are literally a pain to play (arthritis) and that, I am reliably informed, by replacing with a set of lights, means that I can keep using it, rather than sell it! There will be some volume loss but as my hearing is via hearing aids anyway, it won't make that much difference to me!

A random stranger telling me I have a lovely voice. I hate it myself, and was once bullied for my accent, but I have heard worse.

I use light strings on my bass. I find it affects sound more than volume, but it's not worth worrying about. I hope you can keep going and as they say at the start of Sweet Home Alabama 'Turn it up! ' :)

Try a set of Newtone Heritage low tension strings - they're a life saver for us less young ones that want to play acoustic.

I've been using them for more than 10 years, and they make a huge difference.

Sent a hifi turntable away Royal Mail special delivery for before 1pm next delivery, it didn’t get there as promised so complained using the online form, very simple, 3 days later a letter of apology and a cheque covering my cost, lovely.

WCMUT? Getting all my Christmas decorations and outside lights up, including my elderly neighbours :)

Can’t wait for it to get dark now

Well, yesterday really, but had to pop into the local Sainsburys and spotted a bottle of Dow's Trademark Finest Reserve Port at £10 (with Nectar). I like Port, but rarely drink it. Far too easy to get carried away! I've never had this particular brand but for a tenner I though why not. It is surprisingly very nice and smooth - incredible value for money.

Had 2 rear tyres fitted on the Skoda this morning, out and back home in less than an hour (didn't pre book) £134 all in and they topped the fronts up with air as well. Really good VFM. The tyres were Falken, I have used them before.

Nice, if that is still on the Nectar offer tomorrow, that will be my Christmas Port sorted. If you have a Lidl nearby and you know a bit about wine, they have a cru CdR Plan de Dieu for £4.99 from £7.99. Excellent red wine at the original price, so too good to miss.

I'll have a look thanks. Amarone is my favourite, but I also like good French wines.

Wifey is in charge of Christmas, so it’s all guns blazing!
I’m a new year person so I ‘take charge’ of that.
