DPOTY 2024 - Chat thread

I’ve been there Stan :(

Nice one Dominic [@Nostromo] and a great technical explanation to go with it. (y)
+1 congratulations @Nostromo - great photo!
@Nostromo

 Congrats Dominic and well deserved.
Well done @Nostromo I see you got £7.00 in August too :ROFLMAO: looking at the result board. (y)
Thanks all.
I'm not too sure about this months theme, it could be a bit tricky.

I'm still waiting to receive my £7. I've sent my bank details, but I'm beginning to think it's a scam :ROFLMAO:

I see the standard of entries this month is very high again.

But how is it that so many of us really excell at making scary pictures?!

Congratulations @ajophotog and @Nostromo outr joint winners for October.

I see @TimHughes is still way in front on the leaderboard for the year, but it's otherwise very tight at the top of the table:

@lindsay looking ahead to December, please can you recap on the theme? Double exposure? meaning made in camera? Multi-flash? I recall some discussion but looking back I can’t find it.

Hi Tim, yes there was discussion but I can't lay my hands on it. The intention is to achieve a double exposure image - but that could be in-camera, in post-production, or a shoehorn play on the words. I'm only interested in the final image, not how you get there, so it can be as easy or difficult technically as you like; however it would be good to see different approaches and also that people are stretching themselves.

feel like I'm nit-picking now.... but what about more than two images? I recall something about seeing how a subject moves through the frame?

My November entry is in :)
I went down to a railway crossing near to me every day for 12 days!
Eventually a freight train came through, I’m quite happy with the result;)

Managed to remember a last minute shoehorn, mainly as it is one of my favourite pictures of the year, and also a running theme for the year for me.

It looks like @TimHughes ' lead at the top is unassailable now, but there's close sparring for Second and other positions in the table. One month to run still and it's fair to say that the quality of submissions has been excellent all year, making voting very challenging. Those of us who've only managed a few entries have clearly done what we can to participate, but I'm impressed at the number of people who have managed to enter all or most months. Thanks and keep it up!

For the first time ever, I discovered why focus breathing is problematic. :(

Congratulations @RyanB for your winner in December.
The final results are in:

So we have a very worthy winner in @TimHughes who has contributed very consistently through the year, and impressive performance from @RyanB who started late but achieved 4 monthly wins - maybe we need to handicap your scoring Ryan to give others a chance! I think @Gav. may have given you guys a run for your money if he hadn't missed 5 months, having achieved a win and two second places. But there have been some excellent contributions during the year from a lot of very good photographers, and thank you all for making it a proper challenge.
