The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I saw something on this the other day, might have been James Popsys, so thought out of interest I'd stick my cameras in.....

Noise vs ISO
Interesting results, and somewhat surprising that the Fuji is very similar to the R.

What does this mean?
Think of it as the amount of noise introduced as ISO increases - The Sony has a dual gain ISO sensor - this uses two different sets of electronics (one at low ISO and one at High ISO - hence the step change at ISO 640) Quite a lot of Sony and Canon sensors use dual gain ISO and these type of sensors are often favoured by videographers.

So it looks good for the Fuji in comparison then?

I very often shoot the Sony A7Riii at ISO 640 - I don't even think about it or worry about it tbh

In fact, I don't tend to worry about ISO regardless anymore not like I used to. When the A7 was my main camera, I would shoot at the lowest ISO, with the slowest shutter speed I could get away with.... Then I'd shoot at ISO 200, 400 .... just incase a slower shutter had movement. Now I just go straight in with whatever ISO is needed :)

But yes, I was very surprised with the chart results from the X100f :) I also didn't realise that was dual gain either!

Last of the day's light at Todaiji, Nara. Wish I could have gone wider but I there were a bunch of people either side, and I was poking through a hole in a fence whereas they were inside, so they kinda had the "right of way"...

The photo doesn't do it justice at all, it is HUGE. It's one of the worlds largest wooden structures. It was built around 750(!), suffered a large fire and was rebuilt around 1705. It was originally 88m long, built was shortened to just 57m during the rebuild.
It's impressive in this day and age. The fact that it was ~30% larger when it was built over a thousand years ago is crazy to me. I can't imagine what people back then must have felt when they first laid eyes on it.

And no nails ! (Like the Forbidden City)

Wow. I didn't know that! I knew that the houses at Shirakawago were built with no nails but didn't realise this was too. That makes it even more amazing.

Over 1000 years in a place with frequent earthquakes, and only brought down once, by fire. Incredible.

Thanks, generative fill can be quite fun can’t it? :)
Yep in a lot of circumstances it can be. That's your Halloween cards sorted now :ROFLMAO:

I went to Duxford yesterday for their last airshow of the year. Haven't gone through all my photos yet, but I think I've got a few decent ones. This one though: I'm really disappointed that I cut the bottom plane off; it could have been my shot of the day otherwise I reckon!
