E-Cigarettes

Yeah, don't expect 'fast'tech to be very ... fast, on delivery. I waited near 3 weeks for the Vamo V3 from them.

Oh, and the V3 is dirt. The V2 SS was way more solid. Already the screen on mine has some kind of fogging on it that won't come off. No idea how it happened. My 5 month old V2 is still fine.

Yes I'm aware of how long it can take but if I order I'm happy to wait. Was looking at the V4 because it's the innards of the V3 in a V2 body. However i'm probably more tempted by the Innokin SVD now.

Will see how thing go over the next couple of weeks though.

Coming up to 2 months now, with no cigs, not even a single puff and no intention/want to go back.

It hasn't been difficult in the slightest, i really enjoy the vaping, whether it's because i knew i had to give up or that i've turned into a "serial vapor" who knows:D

But... i have got to the point where i wonder if i want an upgrade, I'm using the Starter kit i got, which is the 900mah ego ce5 (i think)... it seems to be doing the job, but it almost feels a little weak? or is that just because i have got used too it...?

I like this one in the fact its easy, so don't want anything "TOO" technical but i wouldn't mind "something a bit more" oomph maybe....

I know i am waffling.... i'm good at it, but can i have some suggestions? but nothing that costs stupid amounts lol :D

Well done Trace on giving up...can't remember if I said before but do you go to Bedford at all...The Vaperz shop is there and you can try out different flavours and different vapourizers and batteries.
The juice is a fiver a bottle and lasts me a week, less than I was spending a day!

Maybe take a look at the Ego twist or Vision Spinner (see my last what is it) they seem to be the next logical step without moving to a full size mod.

I'm enjoying the spinner, the variable voltage can make a surprising amount of difference to the flavours. I paid £22 for the 1300mAh spinner from a local store.

Alternatively you could go for the LadyVape which I linked you too before

Thanks Martyn, no i never went to bedford, there was a guy local to me that i ended up going to see, although i maybe tempted still to pop there maybe next week, my guy is online tho you can go to him but he doesn't have a huge selection....

If i can def get there i shall PM you for directions, it's been a few years since i was in Bedford, tho i doubt it's changed much:D

:LOL::LOL: i think not Mr Sprout!! could you imagine the looks i'd get!

I'm going searching for the Spinner now to check it out, sounds like it might be what i need!:D

I should sell these things at weddings. Was covering one yesterday and had 6 guests come and show an interest in my Kanger T3S and eGo 1100mah passthrough. 4 of them took a note of what is was and where I got it.

Could be more lucrative than the photography. ;)

C`mon guy`s how about a few pictures of your dream machines  Keeping them all in one post would be good (y)

Talking of Fasttech, I put a few orders in on 24/6/13 two of the orders wer normal overland, unsigned for items and they arrived nearly 3 weeks ago, yet one order was a Singpost tracked and signed for item which got to the UK on 13/7/13 but that's it, the status hasn't changed and it hasn't been delivered, all Fasttech say is, I have to contact the post office, which I have done quite a few times and they have no record of this item, anyone else having a problem with this company.

And heres a quick snap of my Joyetech evic

Impressive, I bet you lot love talking voltage

Joytech say the same about all UK sellers except Joytech UK. On that basis, my eVic is a copy, but the Joytech software recognises the serial number as legit and it works perfectly.

Funnily enough I've now been looking at the eVic. Think my decision will be between the eVic and the SVD. Have you tried the SVD John? if so what are your views between the 2?

The SVD is bigger and more solid/heavy, when compared with the standard eVic. Personally, the SVD is a little too big for me in 18650 mode and I didn't like the feel of the hard edges in the hand.

The standard eVic is a great control unit, let down by a crappy aluminium tube and top cap. It's very light, but looks and feels like it wouldn't take much of a knock. I bought just the controller, with tubes and caps by Siam Mods (from Pink Mule). The Siam tubes and caps are much more solid and are beautifully turned and threaded. You can get lots of third-party tubes for the eVic, so its a lot more customisable than the SVD.

The big advantage of the eVic is you can charge it via USB or a separate battery charger. That's handy for me because we go camping and often only have a 12v power supply to charge from. The only downside, apart from the cheap and nasty standard tube, is it needs flat-top batteries. Nipple tops don't quite fit in the Siam tubes. Or rather, they fit, but the bottom cap doesn't screw in completely.

The only thing both really miss is an adjustable centre pin.

Thanks John, the biggest plus for me that I can see would be the ability to use it in pass-through mode in the house or car.

It's the smoker in me with the equivalent feeling to "will I have enough Rizlas to see me through till morning" that I always got 5 minutes before the local shop closed.

I remember it well. ;-)

Oh this is a corker:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/8614291/

I predict that, if news of this gets out, sales of pink ecigs will go through the roof!

Wow, that is weird I have just completed two weeks :D completely ash free and a previous two weeks on limited cigarettes. I am so surprised that I have actually lost a couple of kgs at this time, as normally I tend to delve into the Haribo when trying to stop smoking.

I could well believe it is a bit of a hunger depressant tbh

The other thing is, to help me along and inspire my giving up the ash, I've decided I need to excercise more. Am currently walking a 5 km circuit in about 45 minutes and tried to jog/run a bit of it the other night - OMG my lungs have zilch capacity - how long will it take for this to come back?

I lost the cough in two weeks and noticed I was less out of breath (after walking up 2 flights to bed) after about 4-5 weeks. I don't really do exercise, so I can't give you a more scientific measure than that.

The weirdest thing was my sense of smell and taste went haywire after a couple of weeks. Perfume became hugely offensive and I was much much more sensitive to sour and bitter tastes. It only lasted about a week, but it was really noticeable.

Thanks John, I'm more interested in real life experiences tbh. I have read that the only way to aid the recovery is to (try) and do as much cardiac excercise as possible. So, I shall persist - tomato face and all.

Strangley, so far my sense of taste and smell doesn't seem to have changed too much this time, although this was one of the first things I noticed on stopping smoking previously

My fasttech order is still stuck in limbo, all I get from Fasttech is "please wait a few days" so I think well over a month is too long to wait for a 10 day delivery, I have now contacted PP to see if they can resolve the issue as Fasttech don't seem too bothered about doing anything to help.
It seems that if you have an order from this company and it gets lost, even if its a tracked signed for item, Fasttech will do absolutely nothing to help resolve any issues, seems like very poor customer service and I wont be using them again.

Which Is why I stick with yo companies as I haven't invested in a backup system :)

I ordered some bits and bobs from flavour art on Sunday, some of which were advertised as 48 before sending, yesterday I received one email early on to confirm the order was received and another in the afternoon to say it had been dispatched.

Maybeso, but I'll never use fastech again. The Vamo V3 they sent [after 3 weeks!] is already falling apart. The LCD screen cover has a big gap and it's all fogged up inside. Whereas my old Vamo SS, now 6 months old, is still fine. I have the V3 only a couple of weeks now.

I'd rather pay a little more for quality, and also for possible returns.

Ok, it has just been suggested to me that I take a look at one of these If I do end up feeling the urge, thought I would mention the recent Heart attack in case somebody goes to answer me this and did not realise. Would I be wasting my money? After speaking to a guy from that site he suggested a low % nicotine flavour, yet I see they have ones with zero nicotine  Like I said previously I honestly believe it is not the nicotine that I feel like I am missing but just the feeling of the hit at the back of the throat and going through the motion of putting something in my mouth (Leaving myself open for abuse with that comment  ) The person who suggested that site to me said I would be best getting a clearomizer. Being a dumbarse I had to google it and straight away the important issue is, not what it is but the advantage and disadvantage over an atomizer. Christ I have not even got the bloody thing in my mouth yet and I feel the need for upograding

The kits good, but a bit pricey (assuming its one battery and one atomiser). Have seen the same below £20 in the UK.

[Edit] Scratch that. Looks like prices have gone up a bit. Best I could find was 2 batteries, 2 EVODs, 5x spare coils, & charger for a shade under £40.

I would avoid zero Nic juice if you want throat hit. You can compensate with a high PG juice, but IME throat hit is quite dependant on Nic level. Generally, the rule is start high and reduce as you go, but given your issues a mid-level Nic content (14-16ml) might be a better starting point.

TH is definitely dependent on the Nic level. I have 8mg Wham-bar juice here [yup, tastes just like the sweet bars, yummmm] but it's way too light on the TH, so I've ordered some 24mg

I tend to stick mostly to 18, seems to be my level. And I only smoked 5mg cig's for the last few years. I did start out on John player blue though [eurgh] - which are very strong on TH/tar.

Ok John thanks for the info, as mentioned I spoke to the guy from there and he said a low Nic content would be best for me. The other thing was, I was thinking that the vegetable juice would be good, but now you are talking compensating with a high PG juice. Would you care to explain to myself and others who might be interested what are we talking about regards to the compensating bit.
Cheers (y)
Thanks

VG = best for vapour production + flavour
PG = best for throat hit

A lot of juices come in a mixed form of the two, but you can get 100% of either.

amazingly my dad who was a 2 and a half pouches of bacci a week guy, gave up in february (i think) and is now on just 11/12 mg (depends on the brand as to which it is).

some places sell sample packs, mainly to try different flavours, but it can be cheaper to buy one or two of those to test what strength/flavour/vg or pg mix you like best.

the other half has just started making his own and his preference is 70% vg 30% pg at 12mg

Thanks Keith, so would I be right in thinking that if you buy a 100% of either of the same flavour, you then mix the two to suite your own taste and hit satisfaction?

It's a lot easier to buy per mixed to suit your preference.

Flavour art have a good website to mooch around and great service :)

That's not a bad idea. I've mixed pre-made juices and got some good results.

Heath-e-vape do custom mixes, but you'd need to try a few to know what to specify. Liberty Flights are a good place for pure PG or VG juices, plus lots of blends.

I think you will find that the bigger throat hit is more likely to be down to the PG content in the nic base.
Also I wouldn't advise vaping pure or high PG either unless you want to have a constantly dry throat. ;)

The atomiser has a part to play in throat hit too. Taking Joyetech's Red Cow as an example (purely as that's what I'm vaping today), even the 6mg has a good throat hit via a standard eGoC atomiser, but almost nothing through an Evod.

Just for reference:

WHAT IS PROPYLENE GLYCOL?

Propylene Glycol (PG) was not initially used for vaping, as it is commonly used in many household products.

These include:

· Diazepam (as the solvent in the injectable form of the product) and other pharmaceutical medicines

· A carrier liquid in fragrances

· Massage oils

· Emulsification agent

· Smoke machines in order to create the smoke seen in the theater and for firefighting training

· Hand sanitizers

· Solvent for food coloring

· Cooling agent for wine and beer

· Coolant in some liquid cooling systems

· In cigar humidors

· De-icing of aircraft

· In deodorant sticks

· A working fluid in hydraulic presses

· An ingredient in UV or backlight tattoo ink

Other products that make use of propylene glycol include cosmetic products, food coloring, cake mixes, sodas, salad dressings, and toiletries. PG is also used as an active ingredient in fog machines used in industry, nightclubs, and theaters.

What Are the Known Side Effects of Propylene Glycol?
Some of the side effects experienced by people that use propylene glycol are muscle pain, sore throat, and stronger smelling urine. These symptoms can all result from using e-cigs that use propylene glycol-based e-liquid. Since PG is considered a humectant (it collects moisture), your throat can become dry after use and potentially sore. It can also result in an increase of lactic acid production by your body causing muscle aches that occur more often than normal. In order to counter-act these symptoms it is recommended that you increase your fluid intake in order to flush the lactic acid from your body more quickly. This will also help with alleviating your sore throat more quickly which normally disappears after a few days of starting vaping. If you find yourself beginning to suffer from loose bowel movements, a rash, or having night sweats you may be allergic to propylene glycol. If this occurs you will need to seek out an electronic cigarette solution that is vegetable glycerin (VG) based instead.

What to Do if You Are Allergic to Propylene Glycol?

If you are allergic to propylene glycol it does not mean that you have to give up on electronic cigarettes. Many e-cig manufacturers produce products that either use VG or have it available as an alternative to propylene glycol. PG also produces an odor-less vapor though it is considered to be thinner and produces less vapor than VG. United States Pharmacopeia and Europe Pharmacopoeia produce, food safe versions of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin.

What does each one do specifically for electronic cigarette usage?

Propylene glycol (PG) is thinner and has a stronger throat hit (TH). The more PG, the stronger the TH. Some people are sensitive and even allergic to PG, but it's not very common.

Vegetable Glycerin (VG) is what gives you vapor. The more VG, the more vapor produced. VG is thicker and sweeter than PG and makes for a smoother vaping experience. Because of this, it can mute some flavors. Again, some people can be sensitive or allergic, but it isn't very common.

The most common mixture for e-liquid of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG) is 50% of propylene glycol (PG) and 50% of vegetable glycerin (VG), depending on the ambient weather temperature.

Vegetable glycerin (VG) is more viscous than propylene glycol (PG). The higher the ambient temperature, the more the vegetable glycerin (VG) should be used.

I think you will find that the bigger throat hit is more likely to be down to the PG content in the nic base.
Also I wouldn't advise vaping pure or high PG either unless you want to have a constantly dry throat. ;)

All I know is anything below 12mg has no TH for me. Whether the juice is more PG or VG based, so I'll go with the idea that it's more down to the nic content. But a PG based 8mg, for example, will give a better hit than a VG based 8mg.

I mix juices all the time. But mostly buy either 50/50 pre-mixed. A lot of times I don't really concentrate on the PG/VG ratio, just the nic content. And I can't think of any juices at 18mg say, that have no TH.

Woot! The Mrs has just bought me a Svoemesto Semovar 3, to go with the Kayfun she's got stashed away for my birthday.

The next two weeks are going to seem like months!

LOL you really have it bad John.
good innit.

Guilty as charged. :-/

Still, the Semovar arrived and, as it was 2nd hand, I had to give it a test before handing it over to the wife. There was a "bad batch" recently that had to be returned so I wanted to make sure it wasn't one of those.

What a lovely bit of kit. If Porsche made vamo's.....
