It's Light Up Lancaster this week, so a little trip out. Having previously been to Light Week in Berlin I was a bit underwhelmed last night, but a couple of snaps.
Out this afternoon for a birthday walk with my wife and eldest daughter, decided on the other side of lac Monbel from us as my daughters electric wheelchair can manage the dirt track on that side rather than the forest track around our side that is heavily rutted by the all terrain bikes - great sunlight and always worth shooting contre jour under these conditions.
Two of our deer friends pictured in our orchard this morning with the new Canon R5 Mk2 & the 600mm f11 - not too bad for 10,000 ISO and 8,000 ISO respectively.
There was a march and band in the square with pipers and drummers, flags and pendants and a bugler to play the last post. After the 2 minutes silence there was wreath laying. The mayor came and that did surprise me as I'd have thought he'd have gone to one of the big towns in the area but here he was.
Judging from the size of he crowd I think a good percentage of locals came. Oh, and the sky is not blown, just typical
My sons Air Cadet squadron leading todays Remembrance Day parade, he's carrying the big drum in the background and will be pleased his face is partially hidden
One from todays bimble in the forest around lac Montbel, at this time foraging is at its height in the forest, people are very protective of their 'spots' i do get a few 'looks' when i womble around with my camera but so far no negative contacts This is a winter chanterelle - we like them but mostly i just photograph them and leave them for others, this year the forest is full of them so I may go foraging tomorrow, a nice 'free' addition to a meal !
One from todays bimble in the forest around lac Montbel, not bothered to ID it - just liked the image, I was initially annoyed with the slug damage, but once I started to process the image i like it with that - its life as it really is - it still looks good even if its not perfect
The first bit of Mist I've been able to take a photo in and it was a genuine drive by shooting with the old point and shoot ! One of the entrances to May Stevens Park in Stourbridge.
We visited our daughter in Marlborough today and took a short stroll along the banks of the Kennet.
The first image is of the old mill leat which runs off the Kennet and was taken hand-held at 1 second - the R5 IBIS seems to work!
The second image is the river itself, onto which several properties back, and probably wished they didn't, when the river flooded disastrously in early 2024.
This week's Flickr "Macro Monday" challenge is "Vegetable(s)".
Part of a Romanesco Cauliflower. Note how the main florets are composed of mini florets arranged in a Fibonacci spiral and that these mini florets are in turn composed of micro florets, again arranged in a Fibonacci spiral - isn't nature wonderful!
