The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

It's be nice if they included it considering the price.

On a more positive note, the IBIS is pretty impressive!

I bought one of these - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265434110670?var=565256968923

Alan sold me the 'f' with a pinch cap but I've never been keen on them as I find they are easier to accidentally knock off. This one nicely matches the finished on the camera body though too plus it is slightly thinner.

I collected my X100IV this afternoon. The chap at the store asked if I wanted the weather resistant kit with it for half price and I said yes out of shock as I thought they were out of stock everywhere as well. To my amazement, when I got home and fitted the kit I found the lens cap no longer fits. How they can sell something with an RRP of £100 with such a poor design absolutely amazes me. I'm half tempted to try to return it as not fit for purpose.

That is bonkers.

Keeping the original lens cap was important to me, and after a bit of googling found this one which fits perfectly - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B086MLCBHK?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

If anything it feels better. Without it, the cap pushes onto the focus ring and that just felt a bit iffy to me since the ring is textured and the cap has that felt inside. I imagine after a while one of those components will wear out.

With this plus a filter, the cap smoothly slides back to about level with the focus ring but not actually touching it. The cap fits snuggly, definitely no danger of it coming off, and since the ring is smooth it doesn't feel like you're damaging the felt in the cap.

I was sceptical of the price, but it's just a stepdown ring at the end of the day. It's well made, the threads are smooth and it fits perfectly.

X100F When in continuous focus setting there's no shutter speed displayed in the viewfinder, but there is in single and manual settings...is this normal?
Hardley ever use continuous so only just noticed!

I've never used continuous so not sure sorry.

I think I've pretty much just shot in Av with auto ISO so I don't really pay any attention to what settings are displayed :ROFLMAO:

Hey all, back into photography after a hiatus, last camera i had was the X-T1, just had a X-T5 delivered and was wondering if there were any useful setup tips when its comes to assigning things to buttons etc..

Most of it is pretty personal choice, but one I would recommend is setting the exp comp dial to C. That puts control on the front command dial, so much easier to use on the fly (y)

Thats the kind of quick, easy but most importantly user friendly advice i was looking for. Thank you.

As @Paulie-W says, it's really up to you, but I have set AEL to Switch Eye A/F On/Off and FN2 to switch between right and left eyes. I've then stuffed other things I use regularly but don't need instant access to in 'My Menu'.

That’s a good idea. Since I put on the thumb grip which makes the AEL button more awkward to press as back button focus and have been thinking what feature I should assign it to and this seems like a good one.

This is so useful! I usually have the front command dial set to aperture. Then I go out with my manual focus Helios 44-2 and find the exposure compensation dial a real fiddle. Problem solved. Thanks Paul. :)

Off the beaten track at Fushimi Inari - I was unsure about it since I knew it would be such a tourist trap, but it's such a big place that it's quite easy to find your own bit of space away from everyone else. We quickly stepped off the main path once we hit the first instagram traffic jam, and ohhhhh boy was it an experience. We walked through dense bamboo forests and old abandoned shrines, ended up walking through enclosures with warnings for boars, and (perhaps unsurprisingly) didn't see another soul for 30-45 minutes until we got back onto the main path further up. As you get nearer the top, it becomes much quieter, and you get the occasional clearing with views across Kyoto. Definitely recommend it, even if you aren't keen on tourist crowds.

My camera stuff is always second hand. Current set-up is no different. Brought from a friend, it’s seen a bit of action. All the vital bits are scratch free. I like not worrying too much about wear and tear.

T3 8-16
Mine too, my X-T2s are still going strong all bought 2nd hand from LCE (except the 10-24 which I bought new from them).

Thanks, meant to check them out yesterday, but forgot. Could'nt ring them earlier as I was on meetings, but did email them.
By the time I got a chance to call them it had gone

Nice shots.
Didn't think you could still get in there.

I don't think you're supposed to, but the gates by the road have been pushed open and the fencing on the footpath is still flattened. I hope they don't change it, I really like it over there. I expect at some point though it'll be flattened and redeveloped :/
