The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Absolutely stunning capture Lewis - that sundown light is superb.
Beautiful..!!
That would be an great print for the wall on display.

Regards.

Thanks Peter. Now that I have got the evening shot that I initially planned, I need to get there early one morning and get the morning light on the trees. That will be for next year though, as the field has been left as setaside this year, so looks scruffy.

Whilst I was waiting for the sunset I had a few minutes where the sun was between the clouds and the horizon and was able to turn around and capture this shot.

Kinkakuji, the golden pavilion, Kyoto.

The popular shot here is across the pond in front of it. It was crazy busy when we got there, and after wrestling to the front of the crowd there wasn't really any room for moving left or right for composition. Also, at that time of the day the sun was hitting the front face-on, making for a VERY tough exposure. I grabbed some quick snaps but decided to go look for less conventional shots. There is a garden/hill behind it, and from a quiet little corner I found this little hole in the trees.

Just when you think you know your camera... It's an X-T4 btw.

I was at the Le Mans 24 hour race last week. Just before the end of the race I got a message saying memory card 2 was full. Card 2 is set to backup only. I'd done a little house keeping on card 1 as I went along but hadnn't really thought about card 2 filling and stopping me shooting. I removed card 2 thinking I'd take the risk on not having a backup of any last few photos but the camera would not let me shoot with no card 2 installed. Not wanting to miss shots of the victory lap etc, I very reluctantly formatted card 2 and carried on shooting. And all was fine.

But in the interest of avoiding this in future and ignoring the fact I should use bigger memory cards and carry extras...

1. Can I set card 2 to just start overwirting when it gets full?
2. Can I set the camera not to use slot 2 at all or to stop using it once full?
3. Can I set the camera to shoot without a card in slot 2?

I did some digging in the menus but couldn't see any way to manage any of this.

Set card 2 to overflow. It’ll only be used when card 1 is full. Yep always carry a spare.

  1. No, I don't think so.
  2. Yes, I haven't got a Fuji to hand at the moment, but you need to set it to only record to either card.
  3. Yes, see above.
I got caught out similarly when I lent my son my X-T2, I had it set up to shoot raw to card 1 and JPEG to card 2, I was hoping that just taking out card 1 would let it shoot with JPEG only to card 2, but it wasn't quite that simple. I had to go in and set it specifically to only shoot JPEG to card 2, and nothing to card 1.

I am looking for Fuji 18mm f2 if anyone is looking to part with one.
Message up in the wanted section
Got one from CEX and was delivered today. Was a bit hesitent about ordering from them as they now dont seem to list the condition on lenses, but they assured me I have 14 days to return if required.
But all seems OK, nice condition, tiny mark on the hood is all I can see and £265 delivered.

Oh and while I'm here, thanks to all those who suggested the 100-400mm for this a few weeks ago. It was just the right tool for the job.

A few of the results. All of these were the X-T4 100-400mm combo. I had the 50-140 with me and a 1.4x TC but the 100-400 was on the vast majority of the time. It's a heavy thing though. Not certain if I'll keep it long term or switch to a 70-300 for this sort of thing.

Fujifilm Fuji X-H2S comments/opinions re the XH2S as compared to X-T5/4/3, is it better/worse.... build quality/ image quality/ ergonomics etc, would you recommend etc?
I’ve had the X-H2S and X-T5/4
I found the X-H2s to be much better ergonomic than the X-T series. It has a much better viewfinder. The stacked sensor has very fast readouts making it ideal as a sport and wildlife camera. It has the same subject detection as the X-H2 and X-T5. But they both have higher megapixel sensor. Neither of those are stacked. Any of them produces beautiful image quality.
But have to say the X-T series look way cooler.
No idea about video at all.

Not seen this mentioned, but yesterday Victor Ha confirmed that the XT-5 firmware update to fix the autofocus issues introduced in 3.01 will be out by the end of June. And... Will include the reala ace film simulation. (Source - Seth Miranda's 'Coffee with Creators' live stream).

Ginkakuji (Silver pavilion), Kyoto.

This is part of Higashiyama Jisho-ji. Originally the retirement villa of an art loving shogun, it is where many aspects of Japanese culture were developed. Things like tea ceremony, flower arrangement, Noh theater, poetry, garden design and architecture were all developed and refined here.

It is now a Zen temple.

Just when you thought I’d left X-Trans for good, like a bad penny I’m back :ROFLMAO: Just picked up a time warp X-Pro 1 (less than 500 clicks!!) with mint XF35mm F1.4, mint XF18mm F2 and an original leather half case/full case. All boxed with original paperwork, soft cloths, etc, etc.

Almost seems a shame to use it :ROFLMAO: just need to sort out a diopter.

You are now officially a disciple of @trevorbray he's cloned you well Perceptive San

But to be fair it’s my first X-Pro 1 :) (I might have had the lenses before though :ROFLMAO: )

@trevorbray is about to be on his 3rd Q2 or 2nd Q3, depending when he’s made his mind up  :$
Look can you behave, I really don't have time to keep convincing him to return things that you've told him he needs, it would be far easier if he just burnt £20 notes or sent them to me, RMSD of course :ROFLMAO:
